As a senior IT security advisor, you help protect IT hardware, software and data against modification, destruction, and accidental or unauthorized disclosure. You also assist in authentication and access control by designing, administering and controlling proven security systems. You analyze IT system vulnerabilities and implement protective measures to back up, restore and secure systems.

You lead development projects and complex, highly innovative strategic initiatives, such as the development of IT security standards and policies. Your initiatives require extensive knowledge of your specialty area.

You make recommendations on the planning and execution of operationally and conceptually complex projects and initiatives that require comprehensive analysis and understanding of the organization and line of business. Coordination is critical, so you interact with stakeholders working in many other fields. Interpersonal savvy is therefore essential.

You serve as specialist advisor and subject matter expert, as well as resource person and coach for decision-making bodies.

More specifically, you help the team to analyze and diagnose complex IT security issues or situations. You provide advice in accordance with the rules of your discipline and make proposals for optimizing standards and recommendations to improve security solution architectures. You propose appropriate implementation plans based on an automated deployment approach. Your general knowledge of IT contributes to the implementation of various IT solutions that comply with security standards and targets.

Additional responsibilities

  • Act as a security expert for various parties and decision-making bodies.
  • Represent your unit in meetings with committees and departments about the mandates entrusted to it.
  • Analyze needs, performance capacity and project costs, and determine appropriate strategies.
  • Identify and analyze major problems and issues. Diagnose major issues and make recommendations to decision-making bodies.
  • Produce analysis reports on features or tools.
  • Draft guides and procedures related to the field of activity.
  • Analyze complex situations and suggest solutions in accordance with Desjardins Group's governance and security frameworks.
  • Design secure technology solutions required for the advancement of entrusted projects and develop detailed architecture in your area of expertise, as well as configurations and implementation plans that respond to the changing needs and technology targets of the organization.
  • Design technological solutions by carefully planning both the specific components and general impact of each solution proposed.
  • Coordinate teams of professionals during implementation projects and ensure the required alignments all through the project.
  • Assist other team members (squads) in their daily work.
  • Coordinate stakeholders from different fields of expertise.
  • Participate in developing operating targets and their transition strategies.
  • Be able to work on several projects simultaneously.
  • Closely follow, understand and anticipate trends and best practices in your field of expertise.
  • Ensure the quality of deliverables for entrusted projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field
  • At least 6 years of relevant experience
  • Experience on large-scale project files involving multiple stakeholders
  • Experience explaining needs and requirements for solutions, processes and tools in plain language
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum mode
  • Experience in an Agile environment
  • Experience negotiating with suppliers
  • Experience explaining needs and requirements for solutions, processes and tools in plain language

  • For positions available in Quebec, note that knowledge of French is required.

Specific knowledge

  • Knowledge of one of the following areas of expertise: infrastructure security (networking/next-generation firewalls), endpoint protection and cloud security.
  • General knowledge of infrastructure: proxy, firewalls, Active Directory, DNS, telecommunications (network interconnections)
  • Excellent knowledge of security information and event management (SIEM)
  • Excellent knowledge of security orchestration, automation, and response (SOAR)
  • Good knowledge of information asset management
  • Knowledge and understanding of the concept of security as a comprehensive cross-sector capacity: identity and access management, data management, logging, automation and monitoring.
  • Knowledge of Jira for managing and monitoring stories and backlogs

  • Knowledge of the security framework (MITRE ATT&CK)

  • Knowledge of cloud security and applicable solutions (an asset).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency in spoken and written English
