Specific accountabilities

You will be responsible for carrying out various activities related to the implementation, upgrade and maintenance of network infrastructure and security platforms. You will work in collaboration with the technology architects to develop detailed procedures and plans for new solutions to be implemented. You will be involved in projects related to the network and infrastructure in order to execute resilient, high-performance solutions. You will also provide Level 3 technical support to system administrators to address problems and incidents. You will be responsible for preparing detailed documentation and maintenance and operating procedures for designated systems. Finally, you will advise on operational architecture and work closely with operations administrators to develop and implement solutions.

Main duties include the following:

  • Manage network and infrastructure integration activities for all systems, in accordance with security policies and established standards;
  • Monitor technological progress and track advances specifically related to designated platforms in order to be able to formulate recommendations;
  • Help develop and enhance target IT architecture;
  • Participate in opportunity studies and preliminary designs;
  • Analyze architecture documents and issue detailed technical specifications based on these documents;
  • Establish installation and startup procedures for various systems and new solutions;
  • Document procedures related to environment administration, daily routine checks, file purges and regular updates;
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of IT succession plans; supervise succession plan operations for designated systems;
  • Put forward solutions to improve infrastructure in order to optimize management;
  • Assess new technologies and recommend replacement strategies; document the resulting technical activities.
  • Analyze, recommend and install new software and hardware required for the network infrastructure, in accordance with established norms and standards;
  • Perform all other related tasks requested by the immediate supervisor or required as part of the job.

Key requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science;
  • Eight or more years of experience in the IT industry, including five in network infrastructure;
  • Familiarity with every aspect of IT (telecom, data warehousing, virtualization, Windows environments, data centres);
  • Extensive technical knowledge of IT infrastructure;
  • Awareness of market trends in IT infrastructure systems;
  • Experience with Cisco required; familiarity with Cisco ASA and Check Point firewalls, an asset;
  • CCNA, a significant asset;
  • Knowledge of WAN optimization technology;
  • Familiarity with virtual networks (NSX);
  • Technical writing abilities;
  • Teamwork- and collaboration-oriented;
  • Keen sense of organization and structure, and strong documentation skills;
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule; may be required to install software/hardware outside of regular business hours;
  • Strong teamwork skills and a commitment to ongoing quality improvement;
  • Outgoing, energetic, organized, self-directed;
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and frameworks;
  • Background in real estate management an asset;
  • Fluency in written and spoken French and English.
