As Application Solutions Architect, you actively monitor new technologies and system developments for the organization as a whole, with a view to pursuing developments with our business partner. You actively help design solutions to meet the business needs for large-scale projects or programs that leverage architecture and foundation targets.

You will take on, from a Desjardins Group perspective, a leadership and influencer role when interacting with business partners and specialists on solution or business architecture for strategic, complex and innovative initiatives. The nature of the files will require extensive and in-depth expertise in several technology and/or business fields, covering aspects pertaining to data, applications and infrastructures.

You will make recommendations regarding solution or business architecture, and produce deliverables pertaining to your field as part of files or projects that have a very high degree of operational and conceptual complexity. These will require analysis and an overall, in-depth understanding of the business and the organization. Coordination will be critical. You will be called upon to interact with a very large number of stakeholders in a variety of fields of expertise. As such, you will need highly developed interpersonal skills.

You will serve as expert advisor and subject matter expert, as well as a resource person and coach for senior management and decision-making bodies.

More specifically, you are responsible for developing our technological application environments, making sure they are consistent and in alignment with enterprise architecture targets and orientations. You establish and produce the development plan for our applications portfolio in order to achieve corporate targets and orientations, and to assist our business partner in developing financial products based on their business strategy, by influencing initiatives impacting your field of activity so that they are consistent with the established development plan. You participate in and influence the prioritization of initiatives to ensure their alignment with your field's development plan. You ensure compliance with the guidelines related to your area of expertise.

Additional responsibilities

  • Serve as an expert advisor and subject matter expert for projects and mandates specific to your area of expertise and whose scope and impact are significant and may be felt across Desjardins Group. Identify and prioritize projects that combine business and technology and that support business strategies.
  • Advise and assist business partners and specialists with the positioning, planning, development, performance and follow-up of various strategic mandates under your responsibility. Organize, manage and deliver guidelines, as needed, on specific technical subjects requiring the consensus of multiple stakeholders.
  • Develop and update policies, standards, architecture targets and supporting foundations, or technology solutions, taking into account aspects pertaining to data, applications and infrastructures to support your unit's strategic projects and initiatives.
  • Identify and analyze problems. Raise any major issues. Establish frameworks and make recommendations to the decision-making bodies and committees involved.
  • Represent your unit in dealings with senior management committees and decision-making bodies.
  • Represent Desjardins when negotiating and committing to agreements with partners or external organizations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • A minimum of eight years of a relevant experience
  • Experience developing solutions based on web technologies (.Net and/or Java)
  • Experience implementing financial sector software packages (an asset)

Specific knowledge

  • Advanced expertise in the delivery of integrated applications as part of the Agile/Waterfall project (needs analysis, identification, estimation, planning, implementation/deployment strategy)
  • Knowledge of cloud computing (IaaS, PaaS, CaaS, SaaS)
  • Solid understanding of architecture patterns (integration of business solutions)
  • Knowledge of operating processes and IT asset support (service level, criticality, RP, UCMDB, HPSM) – ITIL (an asset)
  • Advanced expertise in technology infrastructure (e.g. servers, DBMS, MQ, Citrix) (an asset)
  • Knowledge of the Treasury sector (an asset).
