As a Senior Mobile Security Engineer within our Information Technology Service (ITS) Department, you'll be responsible for the maintenance, security and operations of the Peel Regional Police (PRP) Mobile Device Management (MDM) environment, including the secure configuration of platform, technical mobile device policy, monitoring, compliance, and configuration standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

More specifically, as a Senior Mobile Security Engineer, you will:

  • Maintain, configure, and provide third-level support for mobile platform components, including VMWare Workspace One, VMware Hub, etc.
  • Maintain and configure the Zero-Touch/Device Enrollment Program (DEP) process and backend technology components (i.e., Apple Business Manager, Android Enterprise Enrolment, etc.), including testing and validation of operating system updates.
  • Coordinate the SaaS platform upgrades with service providers.
  • Provide third-level support and lead maintenance activities (including upgrades and security patching) of on-prem server infrastructure components related to MDM, OKTA and Mobile VPN technology, as well as for all aspects of mobile platform, including working with vendors during troubleshooting, providing advanced mobile diagnostics, testing fixes, testing new hardware, and confirming resolution with clients.
  • Monitor mobile platform performance, and troubleshoot, report on, and address key issues.
  • Coordinate application software delivery, configuration, maintenance and testing for Enterprise apps deployed by IT Services.
  • Regularly review and raise risks and vulnerabilities related to mobile security with a wide range of stakeholder groups. Develop, implement, and maintain coordinated security and patch management practices in accordance with PRP IT security policies and procedures.
  • Participate in cyber incident response (IR) activities and lead mobile IR playbook development and maintenance.
  • Lead secure lifecycle management related to smartphone technology. Participate in device upgrades, secure wipes, and disposal processes, and ensure that risk to PRP data is minimized throughout these processes.
  • Lead Identity Provider (OKTA) authentication integration activities for PRP cloud services, including testing, planning, and technical policy development. Validate and maintain Single Sign-On (SSO) configuration/policy for all authorized PRP endpoints (mobile devices, desktops, laptops, servers).
  • Provide technical leadership in Mobile and security technology within Peel Regional Police, and provide consulting services to technology projects.
  • Conduct research on emerging technology, evaluate and provide recommendations related to mobile platform components.
  • Develop training materials and provide training to IT staff on mobile platform technology and processes.

QUALIFICATIONS

In the role of Engineer – Senior Mobile Security, you will apply the following education, experience and skills:

  • A university degree in Computer Science, Information Management or Information Security, or equivalent.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) designation.
  • Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC), EC-Council Certified Incident Handler (ECIH), GIAC Certified Incident Handler (CGIH), Workspace One UEM Certified, OKTA Certified, NetMotion Certified, Zscaler Certified and Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) designations are preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of five (5) years' technical security experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of iOS/iPadOS, Windows 10, MacOS, Virtualization technologies (VMware), Mobile Device Management (MDM), VPN (Virtual Private Networking), Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), End-point protection (Antivirus, Application Control/Allow-Lists), and Patch Management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of systems ITIL Configuration Management principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the installation and configuration of hardware/software and peripherals.
  • Demonstrated planning and organizational skills.
  • Effective oral communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective written communication skills, including experience with developing technical documentation for a knowledge base and knowledge-centred service as well as end-user documentation for training purposes.
  • Demonstrated analytical, research and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid Ontario Driver`s Licence (Class G) with full driving privileges.

The salary range for this permanent, full-time position is $63,395 to $106,814 per annum and is complemented by a comprehensive benefit program, including employer-paid Health/Dental and Life Insurance after a six (6) month waiting period; and the OMERS Pension Plan. OMERS is a defined benefit pension plan that provides a pension at retirement based on earnings and years of service in the plan. Both the employees and the employer contribute to the pension plan.
