Cloud Engineering Senior Engineer Location: Kanata, ON (Hybrid 4 days onsite) Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Duration: 12 month contract Target Start Date: October 5, 2026 Job Description We are seeking a Cloud Engineering Senior Engineer to support the design, development, testing, and deployment of the Telemetry & Observability Platform (TOP). TOP is an enterprise platform that integrates vehicle telemetry, diagnostic information, engineering artifacts, manufacturing evidence, service data, and software lifecycle signals to provide actionable diagnostic and software-health insights. The successful candidate will work within a cross-functional Agile team to build cloud-native services, data integrations, user-facing capabilities, and platform observability solutions while contributing to the ongoing evolution of the platform. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain TOP platform components. Build and integrate REST APIs, backend services, data-processing functions, and event-driven workflows. Develop integrations with approved vehicle, service, engineering, manufacturing, and software-factory data sources. Support ingestion, normalization, validation, storage, and retrieval of telemetry and diagnostic information. Develop dashboards and interfaces used to present diagnostic, operational, AI-performance, and platform-health information. Implement logging, metrics, distributed tracing, error handling, and health monitoring capabilities. Write unit, integration, API, and automated regression tests. Participate in code reviews and Agile ceremonies. Support CI/CD pipelines, containerized deployments, and cloud-environment troubleshooting. Assist with integration of AI services through governed APIs and standardized interfaces. Implement role-based access controls and follow enterprise security, privacy, and auditability requirements. Create and maintain technical documentation, API specifications, deployment procedures, and design documentation. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. Software development experience. Experience with: AWS Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Java JavaScript SQL Kubernetes Docker Apigee REST APIs Spring Boot GitHub Agile Software Development Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) Experience developing or consuming REST APIs and working with JSON. Experience with relational databases and data modeling. Familiarity with cloud computing, containerization, CI/CD practices, and automated testing. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Google Kubernetes Engine, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, or Cloud SQL. Experience with Terraform or similar cloud-native technologies. Experience with React and TypeScript. Familiarity with event-driven architectures, data pipelines, and observability platforms. Knowledge of OpenTelemetry, OpenAPI, or Swagger. Experience integrating AI or machine-learning services through APIs. Understanding of agentic AI workflows, RAG, vectorization, LLM orchestration, and AI evaluation approaches. Experience with telemetry, connected vehicle data, manufacturing systems, or engineering lifecycle platforms. Compensation $30-60/hr AI Disclosure Artificial Intelligence tools are used to assist in screening and assessing applicants for this position

Requirements

Candidates should have experience with cloud platforms, Java, JavaScript, SQL, Kubernetes, Docker, REST APIs, Spring Boot, GitHub, Agile, and SDLC, plus familiarity with JSON, relational databases, CI/CD, containerization, and automated testing.
