What is the Opportunity
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end development and delivery of software solutions driving our business operations and enhancing the overall customer experience. You will lead a team of solution architects and software developers, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and play a key role in achieving our strategic objectives.
You possess the leadership skills to lead and motivate highly skilled professionals. You are a team player willing to help in any situation that may arise and are flexible and adaptable to changing business priorities. You have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with staff and peers at all levels of management.
What you will do
- Lead and mentor IT professionals to build a high-performing service-oriented team, fostering an innovation and a collaborative work environment. Provide guidance and support to ensure the team meets its objectives.
- Oversee the design, development, and deployment of scalable and secure applications.
- Manage the software development lifecycle from project initiation through delivery.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, making recommendations for adoption where applicable.
- Oversee the configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of key 3rd party systems as well as internal database architecture to meet business performance requirements and resiliency.
- Manage relationships with external vendors and third-party service providers. Ensure compliance with service levels and contracts.
- In collaboration with key stakeholders, gather business requirements, define project scope, allocate resources, and ensure the timely and high-quality delivery of solutions.
What you will need to succeed
Experience and Knowledge
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or information technology;
- At least 8 years’ experience in leading application development teams, with a strong understanding of software development methodologies, technologies, and best practices;
- Strong background in data solutions development, systems integration, application development, quality assurance, change/release management, and control processes;
- Experience with data management concepts and tools such as ETL, data modelling, data warehouse, reference data management and business analytics;
- Expertise across the full technology stack and passionate about leveraging technologies to drive innovation and efficiency to achieve business objectives;
- Investment industry knowledge (products, systems, terminology) and experience is preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Solid project management skills with a track record of delivering projects on time;
- Strong work ethic, analytical, organized, with great problem-solving skills;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English (English is required to communicate with staff in our other offices in Ontario and Saskatchewan);
- Available for occasional travel.
