As an IT foundations platform architect, you help ensure IT efficiency by analyzing, designing and updating programming algorithms (computer software and Web applications) and the architecture of IT tools (software, networks, databases, etc.). You ensure consistency with the organization's current and future needs and structure, while also ensuring that new components are compatible with the existing architecture (software applications, products, services, etc.).

You design detailed architecture, software and testing/implementation strategies for very large-scale, innovative projects and initiatives involving multiple sectors. You analyze, develop and recommend functional, organic and technology solutions and priorities. The ability to work with technology, anticipate innovation and optimize work processes is therefore essential.

You advise clients and employees on integration and coordination matters, so the ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate a thorough understanding of needs is key. Your initiatives require extensive knowledge of your field.

You are responsible for strategic, highly innovative projects and initiatives that involve multiple sectors, are operationally and conceptually complex, and require comprehensive analysis and understanding of the organization and line of business. Coordination is critical, so you frequently interact with stakeholders working in a wide range of other fields.

You lead, influence and serve as expert advisor to your unit, senior management and decision-making bodies.

More specifically, you define the overall system architecture, help define non-functional requirements (NFR), identify key elements and subsystems, and help design interfaces and collaborations between them.

Additional responsibilities

  • Develop the platform's architecture by defining the feature enablers (epics).
  • Monitor the market and competition, best market practices.
  • Allow a continuous delivery pipeline.
  • Establish non-functional criteria (security, robustness, performance, maintenance, scalability).
  • Lead and define emerging design elements.
  • Document requirements and align the various stakeholders for the architecture runway.
  • Lead technological feasibility, exploration (new product, new integration) and innovation taking into account the expectations of the solution architect's expectations of the solution architect vision's vision.
  • Support projects in terms of design and implementation.
  • Produce platform indicators and explain them.
  • Update indicators: performance, SLOs, use, licences.
  • Get Desjardins stakeholders on board with the solution: security, infrastructure, compliance, legal, technology, etc.
  • Validate SOs for business projects.
  • Establish capacity allocation for enabler work.
  • Continuously document the application architecture and other deliverables for the CRA.
  • Help develop the Campus curriculum and the training offer.
  • Produce materials for the Campus: depending on the type of course (development, detailed architecture, conceptual solution, process, etc.).
  • Identify enablers at the epic level of the next PI.
  • Support teams and POs in breaking down enablers at the epic level into narratives.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • A minimum of eight years of a relevant experience
  • Experience in continuous delivery processes (pipeline, automation, etc.)
  • Experience with cloud approaches (IaaS, PaaS, CaaS, Docker and Kubernetes)

  • Proficiency in using the following technologies: HTML5, CSS3, Framework, and client-side libraries (Angular, ReactJS, Java 7/8)
  • Proficiency in using the following development tools: GIT, Maven, Gradle, Jenkins, Artifactory, Eclipse
  • Proficiency in using certain unit testing and code quality tools: JUnit, Mockito, JaCoCo, SonarQube
  • Proficiency in using continuous delivery and automation tools: Concourse, Terraform, Ansible (an asset)
  • Proficiency in using Liferay 6.2 portal and Liferay DXP technology (an asset)
