Position Title: Lead Technology Specialist, Quality
Reports To: Head of Technology - Individual Insurance
Department: IT Individual Insurance
Term: Permanent Full-Time

Band: 4M


Work Arrangements:
This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

Equitable is growing! We are looking for a Lead Technology Specialist, Quality to join our team!

We are seeking a strong, dynamic, and talented individual to lead our quality practice. With your experience and knowledge of quality best practices and your expertise in both manual and automated testing, you will guide and mentoring our quality technology specialists.

Success in this leadership role will require a commitment to continuous improvement, a laser focus on the client and team, and constant striving to build bridges. We are looking for self-starters that are constantly on the lookout for opportunity and waste, diligent team players that focus on doing the right thing, and detail-oriented individuals ready to analyze complex issues.

As the Quality Lead, you will have a crucial role in forming, monitoring and evolving our quality principles, practices and standards with a goal to continually improve our quality and the outcome of Individual IT and our Individual business line.



What you will be doing:

  • Provide Quality practice leadership to teams dedicated delivering technical solution for the Individual insurance line of business.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to teams and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Drive the creation, implementation, monitoring, maintenance and innovation of manual and automated testing practices, principles, processes, frameworks, and standards.
  • Collaborate with the platform leaders to align teams with quality standards and goals.
  • Effectively communicate with stakeholders and management to ensure a clear understanding of quality objectives and practices.
  • Track and monitor the effectiveness and implementation of quality standards and processes.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance QA processes for efficiency and effectiveness.



What you will bring

  • 7+ years hands of relevant business technology experience
  • 5+ years in senior quality role with multi-domain experience and leading and mentoring a quality and quality assurance professionals.
  • Post-secondary degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in the following or related discipline: computer science, computer systems engineering, software engineering.
  • 4+ years of experience in automated testing
  • Experience leading and mentoring a QA team.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced continuous delivery environment.
  • Communicative, critical thinker, detail-oriented, analytical, and collaborative
  • Contemporary QA certification
  • Experience in various development and scripting languages · Knowledge of test automation concepts and automated test execution.
