What you'll do

As Solution Architect, you will be part of the Loyalty & Customer Insights squad, which is focused on the delivery of new and evolutionary digital loyalty solutions for the Canadian Tire enterprise, its partners, and its customers. You will be responsible for elevating our Loyalty solutions through disruptive thinking and innovative problem solving. The successful candidate will work with Business Owners and Product Specialists to understand the business needs and translate them into technology capabilities. The candidate will work with multiple IT partner teams to provide technology solution design and be an integral member throughout the delivery cycle.

In this role, you'll:

  • Accountable for enabling successful business outcomes across the loyalty solution stack with a special focus on designing and helping partner groups build production capabilities and reduce technical debt/risks

  • Provides technical solution leadership, designing for sustainable and repeatable patterns across Data, Data Analytics, Data Sciences, and Data Movement and Integration technologies

  • Takes a hands-on approach spanning across design, build, and productionizing solutions

  • Acts as a trusted advisor by providing specialized advice on data movement and integration best practices

  • Creates and delivers solution communication packages to all levels of stakeholders up to and including the senior leadership team

  • Performs code and infrastructure reviews to diagnose issues and provide resolutions

  • Work closely with teams across the enterprise to integrate scalable & reliable technologies

  • Lead technology solution discussions across multiple teams and drive the discussions and outcomes

  • Deliver technology solution designs that align with our overall enterprise architecture frameworks and standards

  • Demonstrate a strong ability to learn new information and systems quickly

  • Ability to work successfully in a highly matrix organization and build partnerships with peers and vendors

  • Make recommendations on strategic and architectural direction

  • Evaluate, design, document, and establish new technical protocols

  • Create and deliver solution communication presentations to all levels of stakeholders up to and including the senior leadership team

  • Create detailed architectural artifacts and can dive deep when needed

  • Participate in RFP processes when necessary and deliver recommendations based on results of software product evaluations

  • Provide hands-on support spanning across requirement analysis, solution design, build, test and implementing solutions

  • Provide technical leadership and consulting to the various business areas of our portfolio

  • Maintain strong relationships with peers and other internal and external stakeholders across IT and Business Teams

What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related field is preferred

  • Demonstrated thought leadership and passion for your work

  • You are a self-motivated, agile, and innovative team member who can manage in an environment of change and ambiguity

  • Demonstrated ability to think and communicate in both abstract and concrete concepts, and to do so appropriately for the audience

  • Solid knowledge of API Management, Load balancing services (Load balancer, Traffic manager, Application gateway, Front door), Data Robot and Azure Function

  • Working experience in Tibco Stack (all components), IBM Stack, Kafka/Pulsar and Event driven/Event stream architecture

  • Understanding of TLS/SSL, encryption, and key management principles

  • 7+ years I.T. experience in progressive analysis and design related positions

  • 3+ years I.T. experience working in an architect/system design role

  • Working experience in the following areas is an asset:

    • Customer Loyalty Platform technologies

    • Data Lake or Big Data analytics technologies

  • Working experience with the Agile/SCRUM project approach

  • Knowledgeable in all areas of software development and architecture, with a focus on applications and a comfort with infrastructure, networking, security, data design, Cloud, and integration patterns

  • You can dive deep to troubleshoot when needed and clearly communicate your findings and proposed solutions

  • Experience with working with 3rd party supported software

  • Experience with working in a Cloud environment (Azure, GCP or AWS)

  • Experience interpreting and applying security best practices to create, harden and secure infrastructure and applications

  • Experience with identity management, authentication, and authorization

  • Experience with batch and API based (SOAP, RESTful) system to system integrations

  • Adept at balancing the immediate needs of a project (business requirements and business strategy) with Enterprise Architecture standards and the declared IT target state to achieve a win-win situation

  • Experience working closely with both Business and IT stakeholders, and proven experience in building and managing professional relationships and consensus-building throughout all levels of an organization

  • Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Exceptional skills in facilitating meetings, interviewing, probing, and influencing others

  • Experience in the Retail industry is an asset
