The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario Provincial Police, and the Bureau Commander of the Investigation and Enforcement Bureau (IEB), Alcohol and Gaming Commission is seeking a qualified individual to join our Intelligence & Investigative Support Branch .

About Us:

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is one of North America's largest deployed police services with more than 5,800 uniformed officers, 2,400 civilian employees and 830 Auxiliary officers. We provide essential services that ensure the safety and security of the people of the Province of Ontario. The OPP is a division of the Ministry of the Solicitor General, the largest operational ministry in the province with a presence in every community across Ontario. We are the largest police service in Ontario and the second largest in Canada.

The AGCO is a provincial regulatory agency, reporting to the Ministry of the Attorney General and responsible for regulating the alcohol, gaming, horse racing and iGaming sectors as well as cannabis retail in Ontario. The IEB is a Division within the AGCO, comprised of approximately 170 uniform and civilian OPP members deployed across the Province. The OPP model of embedment within the AGCO is unique within the liquor and gaming industries in North America. Internationally, only Singapore has a similar relationship, which was derived from the AGCO/OPP model.

What can I expect to do in this role?

To support IEB in achieving its goals and objectives through the creation and maintenance of digital intelligence/analytical products and supporting infrastructure. To identify information and technology gaps via analysis and develop methods of addressing IEB needs through consultation and collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders.

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

• Ability to pass an OPP background/ security investigation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge and understanding of IT architecture concepts, systems design, development, integration & implementation; current working knowledge of Internet, Intranet, e-commerce, e-business and other emerging and converging technologies to manage complex technological problems.
• Knowledge of the Intelligence Cycle.
• Project management methodologies and techniques to develop and implement project plans.
• Technical Administration of Exchange, SharePoint and Active Directory.
• Current and emerging Microsoft Operating Systems for servers and desktops; Microsoft Office products and all related applications. Virtual Private Network hardware and software, firewalls; network communication protocols, network architecture and topology, database and specialized test and monitoring software.
• Planning, organizing and coordinating skills to support and/or lead the development and completion of organizational projects.
• Principals of Intelligence, the intelligence cycle and investigative techniques/operational strategies.
• Researches, assesses, and summarizes information from a range of sources to incorporate into proposed solutions/recommendations.
• Analytical skills to collect, evaluate, collate, analyze, and report on quantitative/qualitative data and information from multi-jurisdictional sources.
