Ontario Health atHome is looking for an experienced leader in Information Technology reporting to the Vice President of Information Technology and Facilities and working closely with the broader Information Technology Director team, this role is crucial in coordinating IT operations across multiple areas, including Project Management, Security, Applications & Development, Service Desk, Collaboration, Configuration, and Network Management. Additionally, the Director, Information Technology - Operations will provide crucial operational support to the VP of Information Technology with reporting, scheduling, and development of key portfolio communications.

What will you do?

Leadership and Coordination:

  • Foster collaboration and high performance across all IT portfolios and areas.
  • Act as the lead liaison between the IT Operations team and the broader IT Director team in the areas of:
  • Project Management: Ensure IT operations are aligned with ongoing and upcoming projects, acting as the lead IT Director on project planning and execution.
  • Security: In collaboration with the Director, IT Security, overseeing the implementation of security measures, ensuring data protection, and conducting audits.
  • Applications & Development: Support the management and development and implementation of applications, ensuring seamless integration with IT operations.
  • Service Desk Management: Support the service desk function to ensure timely and effective issue resolution and user support.
  • Collaboration Management: Support the effective operation of collaboration tools and technologies, enabling smooth communication and workflow across the organizaton.
  • Configuration Management: Support configuration management efforts to maintain system integrity and proper documentation of IT assets.
  • Network Management: Support the network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability.

Operational Oversight:

  • Oversee all IT related projects to ensure that all ongoing and planned projects are aligned with operational capabilities and strategicobjectives.
  • Provide input on project planning, resource allocation and risk assessments ensuring operational readiness and minimizing potential disruptions.
  • Monitor project timelines and deliverables, identifying potential impacts on IT operations and coordinating necessary adjustments.

Strategic Support and Planning:

  • Collaborate with the VP of Information Technology and other Directors, Information Technology to align IT operations with organizational goals and strategies.
  • Lead the development and implementation of IT process maps, operational strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Play a key role in supporting the monitoring and planning of IT budget, including cost-effective procurement and management of vendor services.

Security and Compliance:

  • Work closely with the Director IT Security to enforce security protocols, manage risks, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., data protection and privacy laws).
  • Ensure regular security assessments, vulnerability testing, and disaster recovery plans are executed.
  • Collaborate in the development of disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure minimal disruption to services.

Service Delivery and Support:

  • Drives IT services, assisting in the delivery of high-quality and timely assistance to end-users through the service desk.
  • Coordinate with IT leadership and teams across Ontario Health atHome teams to support smooth transitions from project implementation to ongoing operations, ensuring adequate training and documentation.

Performance Monitoring and Continuous Improvement:

  • Establish performance benchmarks and KPIs for IT operations, continuously monitoring and adjusting to meet or exceed targets.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize service delivery and operational efficiency.

Operational Support to the VP of Information Technology:

  • In consultation with the VP of IT, prepare reports, project communication plans, presentations, and project management documentation for meetings.
  • Support budget planning by gathering necessary data and tracking departmental expenditures across the IT portfolio.

What must you have?

  • College Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Agile Project Management
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in IT, with a focus on IT operations and project management.
  • Experience with IT governance frameworks (e.g., ITIL) and project management methodologies (e.g., PMP, Agile).
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within an IT department
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, system administration, security protocols, and service management.
  • Proven ability to manage diverse IT teams and projects, including multi-disciplinary functions (Project Management, Service Desk, Security, ).
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, CISSP, PMP, CCNP) are highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively with leadership and staff to anticipate needs, understand issues, identify concerns and resolve complex problems.
  • Ability to elicit new ideas, build buy-in and achieve innovative solutions. Exercises tact and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive matters.
  • Exceptional skill in developing and managing effective relationships in a complex multi stakeholder healthcare environment.
  • Superior collaboration, negotiation and conflict resolution skills to work with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Listens well and excellent ability to encourage open exchange of information and ideas, build buy-in and achieve innovative solutions in meetings with diverse interest groups.
  • Manages multiple, large projects or facilitates complex discussions that involve internal and external stakeholders from across the healthcare sector who have varying interests/goals.
  • Use data driven approaches to evaluate solutions, weighing risks, costs and and benefits.
  • Required to come up with creative provincial IT solutions for a variety of operational needs and challenges.
  • Identify and leverage new technologies or process improvements to enhance IT operations and resolve complex issues efficiently.
  • Balance immediate problem resolution with strategic initiatives that support continuous improvement and scalability.
