Responsibilities

Network Administrator - will be responsible for the design, installation, documentation and maintenance of LAN/WAN connections, firewalls/VPN, and wireless services to various business and educational departments to ensure stable, highly available and scalable services. Will work with other IT Network and Operations team members to respond to systems and server-related escalations, requests, and projects. Are responsible for maintaining end-to-end knowledge of and identifying and remediating security threats surrounding the systems they support.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Network Router and Switches (25%)
    • Design, install, configure, optimize, document and maintain the integrity of a complex network of routers and switches interconnecting devices across a multi-building campus consisting of Cisco, Nortel and Arista.
    • Design, install, configure, optimize, document and maintain core network devices connecting two data centers and the Internet. Network core protocols include BGP and OSPF.
    • Create and implement VLAN and IP usage strategy to segment traffic for flow and access control.
    • Communicate with peers, Service Desk, Management and other stakeholders on impending upgrades or configuration changes.
  • Network Security (25%)
    • Design, install, configure, optimize, document and maintain Virtual Private Network appliances.
    • Create and apply firewall policies for ingress and egress network connections on both PFSense and Checkpoint firewall appliances to secure network traffic.
    • Securing of wireless and wired networks (Captive Portal, 802.11X)
  • Monitoring (25%)
    • Monitoring, maintaining and expanding current monitoring applications (Cacti/PRTG) to ensure network traffic flows are within industry guidelines.
    • Patching and updating of appliance operating systems and client applications.
    • Using log management applications (Graylog) to track and remedy network access.
  • Wireless Network (25%)
    • Design, install, configure, optimize, document and maintain Wireless network of Access Points, Controllers and associated software (currently Aruba / Clearpass)
    • Implement and maintain Employee / Student and Guest Captive Portal wireless

Qualifications

  • University degree or college diploma in technology or computer science with a concentration incomputer networking.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Industry certification or working towards any of the following: Cisco CCNA, CCNP, CCIE Security; Aruba ACMP is an asset.
  • Ability to work fluently (orally and in writing) in both official languages, French and English, is a requirement for this role;
