PURPOSE OF JOB
Telesat is launching a state-of-the-art satellite constellation of highly advanced satellites in low-earth-orbit that will seamlessly integrate with terrestrial networks. The global network will deliver fiber quality throughput anywhere on earth. We are growing quickly and are currently in need of an experienced and professional Configuration Management Specialist to join our team.

The Telesat Lightspeed Configuration Management Specialist will work closely with the Lightspeed and larger Telesat team.
This position is within the Lightspeed Program Management Office and will support various technical segments.

Main Responsibilities:

  • The Configuration Management Specialist will work with other team members in the following capacity:
  • Document Configuration Management
  • Establish and maintain program CM systems, including the program documents, ensuring all required process steps have been completed before release and documenting released configurations.
  • Attention to detail with respect to managing hardware and software development environments, and program technical data.
  • Understand ITAR processes.
  • Work closely with the program execution and engineering
  • Tasking in this role will include the use of CM tools for configuration identification, configuration control, configuration status accounting, configuration verification and audits, product release and delivery and provide solutions to a variety of CM technical challenges.
  • Maintains all program data, files, reports, briefings, drawings and documentation (internal and contractor-provided)
  • Assists in data searches for historical documents
  • Ensures the data storage locations are adequately secured, backed up, and safe

Contract Deliverable Manager Support:

  • Maintain central source of truth on contract data deliveries
  • Serves as the recipient of data deliveries from Lightspeed contractor data environments/physical deliveries (Note: Contracts, PMs and Lead may be copied on the deliveries)
  • Notifies the appropriate personnel/teams of the arrival of contract deliverable (CDRL) data
  • Notifies reviewers of CDRL review requirements, as necessary
  • Tracks CDRL review progress and feedback (in coordination with the PM/Lead for that particular CDRL)
  • Maintains awareness of the location and type of program data that has been received, cataloged, reviewed, and stored
  • Supports Program and Technical Reviews by distributing and maintaining Briefings and Objective Evidence
  • Participates in contractor Configuration Management Boards, ensuring a record of minutes, actions, and decisions is established and properly communicated

Process Definition & Implementation:

  • Process Definition & Implementation
  • Define/Update Process and Training for documentation management.
  • Candidate must be an advocate of continuous process improvements.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to do clear and concise presentations to various audience levels including to the management team.

Education & Experience required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Library Information Science/College Degree in Information and Library Technologies related field or equivalent combination of related experience and education (each two years of related experience can substitute for one year of education)
  • 3-6 years of related experience in Data Management or Configuration Management Proficiency
  • Configuration Management Certification (CM2-Comprehensive or CM2-Professional Certification).

  • Ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical individuals
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary, high-performing system or product development teams

  • Must demonstrate a flexible, open-minded attitude and have strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience effectively leading meetings and facilitating groups
  • Experienced and skilled in the use of Microsoft Excel – Intermediate Level (Pivot tables, formulas)
  • Being bilingual in English and French is an asset (but not required)

Decision Making & Supervision:

  • In this role, the incumbent will significantly influence the execution of the applications and infrastructure for the Lightspeed program. They will need to make recommendations and decisions based on their experience.
  • This role has no direct reports, but will work and interact with multi-disciplinary engineering, contracts, legal, and commercial teams.

Working Conditions:

  • Working conditions are typical of an office environment.
  • Occasional travel, including international travel, is possible.
