Customer Technology Excellence, also known as CTE, is responsible for TELUS’ integrated networks, information technologies and services strategy, with the objective to deliver transformational experiences and the highest level of resiliency for our customers. The team has end-to-end accountability for our wireless and fixed broadband technologies, spectrum strategy, application and service development, architecture, network and systems assurance, and supply chain management, while also leading our crucial privacy, identity and security roadmaps and governance.

As an Electrician with the CTE team, referred to as a Network Technician Power Technician, your primary responsibility will be to perform Service Delivery and Assurance functions related to network elements and services. You will provision, commission, test, maintain and repair various network elements and services. Your role will also include initiating and/or responding to queries, discussing trouble details and confirming resolutions directly with external/internal customers. Your work will be performed within defined time requirements to meet company quality standards and to ensure network reliability to meet customer needs.

Here’s how:

  • Provide trouble analysis (i.e. testing, fault isolation and repair functions; logs, alarms, operational measurements)
  • Work with appropriate areas for the implementation of hardware, software, firmware, product change upgrades and commissioning of network elements/services
  • Complete preventative maintenance routines to ensure network reliability
  • Explain/discuss details regarding progress, issues, and applicable charges and promote products and services
  • Prepare time and expense reports
  • Document and administer/track maintenance routines for network elements, power, environment and housekeeping
  • Provide information on job status, maintain logs and update applicable corporate systems
  • Work is performed within defined time requirements to meet company quality standards, to ensure network reliability and to meet customer needs
  • Preventative maintenance routines and administration responsibilities are completed accurately and timely

Qualifications

You’re the missing piece of the puzzle:

  • You’re a fully qualified Electrician and/or ticketed Journeyperson
  • You have knowledge of AC/DC power and auxiliary power systems including generators

  • Knowledge of network technology, architecture and elements, and a strong understanding of their associated inter-workings
  • Knowledge of circuit wiring, transmission parameters and testing
  • Knowledge of automated provisioning, ticketing, testing and dispatch systems
  • Knowledge of maintenance practices/routines on network elements
  • Knowledge of installation and repair practices, policies, and procedures
  • Knowledge of products and services for business and residential customers
  • Experience in Installation, maintenance, and/or commissioning of network elements (hardware, software and power) would be an asset
  • Able and willing to work in various weather conditions
  • Ability to manage a physically demanding workload
  • Able to use hand held power tools, test equipment and operate a personal computer
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License
  • Normal color vision to work with color-coded wiring
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, nights, weekends and statutory holidays, based on business needs
  • Flexibility to work on call as needed
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Positive oral and written communication skills in English
  • Self-motivated, work well with minimal or no direct supervision
  • Able to identify problems and situations, take appropriate action, implement solutions or engage leadership as required
  • You will be working effectively in a close-knit team environment with strong collaboration amongst other departments
  • Able to maintain a high level of performance under the pressure of time constraints and a dynamic changing environment
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn and apply learned skills to related situations and complete and pass all related exams
