Who We’re Seeking: We’re looking for an Applied Scientist II with a passion in AI/Machine Learning (ML) to shape our first product offerings in this critical space. As an experienced Applied Scientist II, you’ll drive the rapid execution of our v1 product, addressing the needs of our consumers and service providers through the latest cutting-edge AI technologies. Collaborate with a global team of data scientists, software engineers, machine learning experts, and product managers to create a best-in-class service that captures hearts and minds.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)

    • OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)

    • OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field

    • OR equivalent experience.

  • 1+ year(s) experience with common machine learning, deep learning frameworks like Pytorch/Tensorflow, or 1+ year(s) experience developing and deploying live production systems, as part of a product team.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field and 5+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
    • or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field and 3+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
    • or Doctorate in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field and 1+ year(s) related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
    • or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year(s) experience creating publications (e.g., patents, peer-reviewed academic papers).
  • 1+ year(s) experience conducting research as part of a research program (in academic or industry settings).
  • 1+ year(s) experience developing and deploying products or systems at multiple points in the product cycle from ideation to shipping.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft cloud technologies (Azure Functions, Cosmos DB, Azure ML, Data Factory etc.)

Applied Sciences IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $79,600 - CAD $153,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement robust, reusable and scalable systems that power complex web applications.
  • Work with large, complex datasets from various sources to build Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) data pipelines for downstream tasks
  • Integrate the latest Large LLMs such as OpenAI models into production systems.
  • Train, finetune and deploy large-scale Natural Language Processing (NLP) models to power Bing search experiences.
  • Design and implement scalable and efficient algorithms for large-scale ranking tasks, considering factors such as user engagement, diversity, and fairness.
  • Develop deep product intuition to influence future product roadmaps and drive decision making.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering to craft experiments and test hypotheses.
  • Collaborate with other product managers and engineers in the team to build tools to evaluate and improve the end-to-end AI quality of our production systems.
  • Keep a keen eye on the latest developments in the broad AI community.
  • Effectively communicate and demonstrate work to stakeholders.
