Position Title: Product Owner, Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Technology

Team and Location: Enterprise Digital - Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal, Remote

Salary: AB $ 120,000/year; ON, BC, QC & Remote $100,000/year

Position Summary:

Parkland is looking for a Product Owner to join our team to help champion product enhancements and feature delivery as well as software integrations from conception to implementation in the eMobility ecosystem that consists of Electric Vehicle Chargers (DC Fast Charging), cloud infrastructure and integrations with charger management system. This includes prioritization of backlog, managing the entire product lifecycle from design and development to production deployment and post-go live activities to deliver an exceptional customer experience. They will champion product discovery and leverage data-driven insights while working closely with cross-functional teams including our EV Charging team to deliver valuable product to support the growth of our EV charging network. They will collaborate with stakeholders to define the product roadmap that includes new features, and bugs fixes related to EV charging experience. The Product Owner, EV will also be responsible for balancing priorities, defining user stories, soliciting input on requirements with key business SMEs, defining acceptance criteria and measures of success, and end acceptance of the feature/enhancement.

Key Responsibilities:

Champion Digital Experience Strategy and Delivery for EV Charging

  • Lead development efforts and champion technical initiatives to support the expansion of our ultra-fast EV charging network including integration with charger management system, feature enhancements for the EV charging experience, partnership integrations and other initiatives in the EV pipeline alongside Journie, our loyalty program.
  • Work closely with the EV Charging team as well as the Loyalty and Marketing teams to understand their needs and translate them into product requirements that enhances Parkland's EV charging features and the digital customer experience while increasing digital adoption for our loyalty program.
  • Establish, prioritize and own backlog for the EV charging product roadmap to support business cases across Parkland as well as continuously improve operational excellence, reliability, performance, security and cost optimization while ensuring outstanding digital experiences for our customers.
  • Oversee and manage all stages to create, expand and optimize EV charging capabilities including design, development, and quality assurance.
  • Responsible for balancing priorities, defining user stories and requirements, soliciting input on requirements with key business SMEs, defining acceptance criteria and measures of success, and end acceptance of the feature/enhancement.
  • Monitor and evaluate product progress at each stage of the process with active involvement in sprint planning and backlog refinement activities.
  • Liaise with technical teams and stakeholders to deliver updates and ensure that enhancements and bug fixes are delivered to the market quickly and effectively.
  • Continuously review Voice of Customer channels and benchmark against the market competitive landscape by keeping up with the latest trend and product features in the EV charging market.

Solution Development & Execution

  • Develop future state customer experience by incorporating industry best practices, a user-centric design approach, and by steering continuous improvement through a data-driven methodology.
  • Work with stakeholders to prioritize features and ensure that products are delivered to market in a timely and effective manner.
  • Lead and manage technical teams and agile squads to deliver new features for the EV charging with a relentless focus on the user experience, stakeholder engagement and execution to meet desired objectives.
  • Develop rollout plans that support digital adoption and acceptance of the EV charging experience - including value-based communications and technical education across a variety of user groups.
  • Engage with stakeholders to build alignment in overarching objectives, confidence in the path ahead, solicit feedback, ensure readiness for rollout and acceptance, and hold to account in delivering initiative benefits.
  • Work closely within the Digital team to help ensure that product development is completed within the budgeted cost and scope of work.
  • Measure and monitor user engagement and operational health with tools to understand overall satisfaction with the user experience.
  • Socialize and educate the broader business to take a user-centric approach in designing and implementing digital solutions.
  • Support change management efforts associated with achieving initiative objectives, with a heavy emphasis on end user adoption and utilization of digital solutions.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Computer Science, IT, or related field strongly preferred. AWS certification is an asset.
  • 8+ years of experience as a Product Owner or similar role. Experience in EV charging, convenience and retail industry is an asset.
  • In-depth knowledge of Scrum and Agile Software Development Methodology.
  • Proficient computer skills and competent with Microsoft Office programs as well as Jira and Confluence.
  • Working knowledge of product development architecture.
  • Proficiency in the use of analytic tools.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent knowledge of user-centered design principles.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Understanding of design quality standards.
  • Proven collaborator and ability to connect a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Sound organizational, analytical, judgement and decision-making skills with proven abilities in problem solving.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build and maintain relationships through collaboration.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
