Role Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Python Developer to design and build applications, services, and automation for a leading banking client, supporting payments and transaction platforms. The role is primarily hands-on engineering, developing robust, secure, and scalable Python solutions with working knowledge of banking and payments.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain Python-based applications, microservices, and APIs for payment processing platforms. Build scalable, high-performance solutions for transaction processing, reconciliation, and Straight Through Processing (STP). Integrate systems with databases, messaging platforms, payment networks, and internal/external APIs. Automate payment operations, controls, reporting, monitoring, and exception management processes. Ensure code quality, security, performance, and reliability through best engineering practices. Support payment lifecycles, including validation, routing, clearing, settlement, and reconciliation. Deploy and manage applications using cloud technologies, containers, and CI/CD pipelines. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions and contribute to technical standards and design.

Qualifications:

6+ years of hands-on Python development experience building production-grade applications or services. Strong grasp of Python fundamentals, OOP, data structures, and design patterns. Experience with at least one web/API framework (FastAPI, Flask, Django) and API design. Experience building scalable, high-volume transaction processing systems Experience working in banking, financial services, payments, treasury, or transaction banking environments. Databases: strong SQL (Oracle/PostgreSQL/SQL Server); NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis) is a plus. Messaging and eventing: Kafka, RabbitMQ, IBM MQ. Testing and quality: pytest, unittest, mocking, code coverage. DevOps: Git, CI/CD (Jenkins/GitLab), Docker, Kubernetes; cloud services on AWS/Azure/GCP. Data libraries (pandas, NumPy) and scripting/automation experience. Experience in banking / financial services; payments or transaction processing exposure strongly preferred. Familiarity with payment flows and formats (payment rails, ISO 20022, SWIFT MT, clearing/settlement, reconciliation) and regulatory/security expectations in banking.
