About the role
- AI Platform Foundations is a newly formed team within Platform Engineering on a mission to make AI a reliable, governed, and productivity-multiplying force across Wealthsimple’s engineering organization
- We build and maintain the shared AI tooling that hundreds of developers depend on to ship faster and with more confidence. We also build the guardrails and policy controls that keep teams on the golden path, so innovation happens without introducing risk
- As a founding member of this team, you’ll be shaping what AI-assisted engineering looks like at Wealthsimple
- You’ll work across a polyglot environment of Ruby on Rails, Python, TypeScript, and Java/Kotlin, partnering closely with teams across Platform Engineering and the broader organization to build tooling that is adopted broadly, trusted deeply, and measured rigorously. Your work will directly influence how Wealthsimple’s engineers write code, review changes, and ship to production
- Build the shared AI tooling platform from the ground up. As a founding team member, you’ll design and implement the shared infrastructure that brings AI-assisted development to every team at Wealthsimple. This includes consolidating one-off and custom LLM tools into a governed, reusable platform that engineering teams can adopt with confidence
- Accelerate developer productivity through AI-powered automation. Build tooling that meaningfully reduces friction in the development lifecycle. From AI-assisted code review and automated PR approvals to intelligent deployment checks, you’ll create systems that let developers focus on what matters most
- Design and implement guardrails that keep developers on the golden path. Build policy controls, verification layers, and governance tooling that ensure AI interactions across the organization are safe, compliant, and aligned with Wealthsimple’s standards. You’ll own the systems that catch issues before they reach production
- Drive measurable adoption across a polyglot engineering organization. Work across teams using Ruby on Rails, Python, TypeScript, and Java/Kotlin to ensure the platform meets developers where they are. Track adoption, satisfaction, and impact rigorously, using data to guide what to build next
- Define the standards and practices for AI-assisted engineering at Wealthsimple. As an early builder on this team, you’ll have real influence over how we approach LLM integrations, cost governance, and tooling strategy. You’ll establish patterns others build on
- Champion engineering excellence and mentorship. Partner with teams across the organization, share your expertise through documentation and code reviews, and help grow the next generation of developers working in this space
