Overview of Role In the role of “Technical Support Engineer,” you are the subject matter expert that troubleshoots and maintains the IT operations that keep our teams moving. This role is vital to how TSMC Canada scales: you’ll support the day-to-day IT experience our employees rely on, while also building the processes, automations, and systems foundations that reduce manual work and improve reliability over time. In this stand alone “critical technical support” role you will be solely responsible to focus on diagnosing, troubleshooting, and maintaining software, hardware, or network infrastructure to ensure system functionality. We will rely on you to independently maintain a reliable IT design environment and a stable network center for TSMC Canada. You will interface daily with engineering users, and must be able to mentor, guide and effectively communicate with all team members (Layout/Memory Design/ASIC Design) on various tasks related to Linux, Networking and IC Design Tools (Cadence, Synopsys, etc.). A high level of knowledge and understanding of users’ needs is a critical facet of this role. As a seasoned professional, you bring expert hands-on technical know-how and are also adept at closely and successfully interfacing and coordinating tasks with IT teams in San Jose, California and Tiawan. In addition to this, an ideal candidate will also possess foundational knowledge of cloud platforms and a keen interest in AI technologies, applying these skills to troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize our infrastructure. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s/Master's in Computer Science, Engineering or Information Technology • Minimum 10 years of experience in IT Semiconductor Design environment • Operates with a high degree of professionalism • A quick technical mind to diagnose and resolve technical problems • Strong know-how of Security and Data Privacy enablement • Advanced Linux/Unix administration and scripting • Expertise in CAD software • Expertise in EDA (Electronic Design Automation) tool support • Expertise in cloud platforms and AI technologies/concepts • Ability to research and implement desktop environments for Engineering users and meet stringent company security requirements. • Hands on experience with upgrading NetApp storage • Experience working with Management to meet both strategic and operational IT project requirements • Experience creating technical information for users i.e. IT FAQ system and related documents
