Job Details:
Position Title: Chief Information Security Officer
Status: FT Admin
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Faculty/Department: Information Technology Services
Campus/Location: North Campus – must be comfortable working hybrid, a minimum of four (4) days on-site.
Salary: Minimum Starting Salary: $162,037.00; starting salaries are determined based on qualifications and years of related experience
About the Chief Information Security Officer Role:
Humber Polytechnic is seeking a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to lead the institution's cybersecurity strategy, governance, and operations. Reporting to the Vice President and Chief Digital and Enrolment Officer, the CISO will define and execute a comprehensive information security program that safeguards institutional data and computing resources, ensures regulatory compliance, and manages cybersecurity as a strategic risk.
The CISO will oversee a team of security professionals and third-party service providers while serving as Humber's authority on cybersecurity frameworks, emerging threats, and AI-related security risks and opportunities. This leader will provide expert counsel to the executive team, translating complex technical and regulatory landscapes into strategic guidance that enables Humber to pursue its academic mission with confidence. The role also represents the institution in external cybersecurity forums, government regulatory processes, and multi-agency partnerships, requiring a leader who can operate simultaneously as a technical authority, executive advisor, and governance leader.

Education:
Master's degree in information security or a related field, combined with professional certifications such as CISSP or CISM, or equivalent training and experience.
Experience/Skills:
- Minimum 10 years' progressively responsible experience in information security, network security, and incident response, ideally in higher education or a comparably complex environment.
- At least 5 years in senior leadership and people management.
- Proven expertise in developing and administering information security programs, policies, and regulations.
- Strong capabilities in strategic planning, change management, and resource management.
