We are currently hiring an Associate Cloud Developer (12-Month Contract) to join our Digital Technology team based in our Head Office in Burnaby. As an Associate Cloud Developer, you'll play an important role in supporting and enhancing BCAA's cloud-native digital platforms built on AWS. Working alongside senior developers and architects, you'll help monitor production systems, troubleshoot issues, resolve defects, and contribute to backend enhancements that improve the reliability, performance, and scalability of our digital ecosystem. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career cloud developer who enjoys solving technical challenges and building cloud-native applications. You communicate effectively and enjoy working across technical and business teams. What you’ll do: Provide second-line support for cloud-native production applications running on AWS. Monitor system health, CloudWatch alerts, queues, and production pipelines to maintain platform stability. Troubleshoot production issues across AWS services, APIs, and enterprise integrations. Perform root cause analysis and contribute to long-term improvements that enhance system reliability. Support the reprocessing and recovery of failed transactions across digital platforms. Develop, test, and deploy backend enhancements, bug fixes, and integration improvements. Collaborate with senior developers, architects, and product teams to design and implement new features. Build and enhance monitoring, logging, and alerting capabilities for production systems. Support end-to-end validation of digital workflows and customer communication pipelines. Participate in QA, User Acceptance Testing, release activities, and production deployments. Contribute to technical documentation, runbooks, and knowledge sharing across the team. Participate in backlog refinement and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance platform performance and operational excellence. What you bring: Diploma, Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 1–3 years of software development experience with exposure to production support or cloud operations. Experience developing and supporting cloud-native solutions using AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, S3, SNS, SQS, EventBridge, CloudWatch, and RDS (PostgreSQL). Proficiency in Node.js or Python for backend development, with Python considered an asset. Experience building and supporting RESTful APIs and system integrations. Understanding of event-driven architectures, asynchronous messaging, distributed systems, and DLQ monitoring. Experience troubleshooting production issues across cloud services, applications, and integrations. Experience working with PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, or other relational databases. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Experience working within Agile development environments. Excellent communication, collaboration, and technical documentation skills. A passion for learning cloud technologies and building reliable, scalable backend systems. Bonus Skills: AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or higher. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation. Exposure to JavaScript or TypeScript. Experience with monitoring, observability, and logging tools such as CloudWatch. Experience supporting enterprise integrations across cloud and on-premises systems. The salary range for this position is $ 75,363.00 ($41.41/hr) to $ 94,203.84 ($51.76/hr) and is determined via job-related knowledge, skills, experience, certifications, market demand and internal equity. In addition to base salary and BCAA benefits, this position is eligible for a performance bonus target of 9%, with the opportunity to earn up to 15%. Please note that this is a 12-month contract with the possibility for extension and/or permanent conversion, but subject to performance and operational needs. Please note that this is a hybrid role based out of our Burnaby, BC office (3 on-site / 2 remote days).
