Job Description: Responsibilities Develop and test mechanical designs as part of larger engineering projects. Create and maintain test documentation outlining specific mechanical functionality. Execute tests designed by senior engineers. Analyze test results and perform root cause analysis to identify issues. Recommend and implement solutions to complex problems while ensuring compliance with quality processes and standards. Modify and upgrade existing mechanical designs and technologies for new applications. Contribute ideas to improve team performance and productivity. Work independently on routine assignments with general guidance on new projects. Build productive relationships with internal teams, external partners, and occasional customers.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. 2+ years of product design experience. Experience with ProE/Creo design and drafting for industrial, consumer electronics, or opto-electronic products. SolidWorks experience is a plus. Experience designing CNC machined, injection molded plastic, die-cast, and sheet metal components and assemblies. Ability to work onsite in the Mississauga office at least 3 days per week to support engineering design and testing.
Preferred Skills & Competencies Experience working with opto-mechanical or electro-mechanical devices and vision systems. CNC machining experience. 3D printing experience. Knowledge of GD&T, Design for Manufacturing (DFM), and manufacturing processes. DFA/DFM experience supporting volume production products. Precision opto-mechanical assembly design and manufacturing experience. Experience working with ODM and JDM partners.
