About Us
We are seeking an experienced Business Central & Warehouse Operations Consultant to lead a focused operational transformation initiative. This is a hands-on, full-time, onsite contract role dedicated to helping us optimize Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, modernize warehouse processes, implement barcode scanning, and prepare our business for ecommerce growth.
We are looking for a consultant who can assess our current state, recommend practical solutions, and work alongside our team to implement meaningful operational improvements within a focused three-month engagement.
Our Environment Is Relatively Straightforward But Ready For Improvement
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (Cloud) Approximately 10 users One warehouse location Approximately 700 SKUs Primarily B2B sales with some B2C activity
This role will report to the VP of Corporate Services and work closely with the Fulfillment and Finance teams.
The Opportunity
We are looking for someone who can bridge technology and operations. This is not simply a system administration or software implementation role.
The successful candidate will assess our current environment, recommend practical improvements, and work alongside our team to implement solutions that improve inventory accuracy, warehouse efficiency, fulfillment readiness, and ecommerce capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Business Central Assessment & Optimization
Review current Business Central configuration, processes, workflows, and data quality Identify inefficiencies, workarounds, and opportunities for improvement Recommend and implement practical system enhancements Improve inventory management, purchasing, order processing, and reporting workflows Establish best practices and governance for ongoing system management
Warehouse & Fulfillment Readiness
Assess current warehouse operations and inventory control processes Design scalable receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping workflows Improve inventory visibility and accuracy Develop processes that support growth and operational efficiency Create documentation and standard operating procedures
Barcode & Scanner Implementation
Evaluate scanning and barcode solutions that integrate with Business Central Recommend the most appropriate technology and implementation approach Lead configuration, testing, training, and rollout Ensure warehouse staff are equipped to successfully adopt new processes
Ecommerce Readiness
Evaluate ecommerce platform options and integration strategies Recommend an approach that aligns with our operational requirements and growth plans Ensure inventory, pricing, and order management processes support future ecommerce operations Develop an implementation roadmap and assist with execution where appropriate
Change Management & Training
Work closely with Fulfillment, Finance, and leadership teams Facilitate workshops and process reviews Develop training materials and documentation Transfer knowledge to internal stakeholders to ensure long-term success
What Success Looks Like
By the end of the engagement, we expect to have:
A cleaner, more effective Business Central environment Improved inventory accuracy and operational visibility Clearly documented warehouse and fulfillment processes A barcode scanning solution selected and implemented (or implementation well underway) A clear ecommerce strategy and implementation roadmap Staff trained on new processes and systems A prioritized roadmap for future improvements
Qualifications
Required
Significant experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Proven success improving Business Central environments after implementation Strong knowledge of inventory management, warehousing, fulfillment, and operational processes Experience implementing barcode scanning or warehouse mobility solutions Experience evaluating and implementing ecommerce integrations Ability to work independently and drive projects from assessment through execution Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred
Experience in distribution, wholesale, retail, educational products, publishing, or ecommerce businesses Experience with warehouse management systems and fulfillment operations Experience with Power BI, Power Automate, or Power Apps Microsoft Business Central certifications Process improvement, Lean, or operational excellence experience
Working Arrangement
3-month contract Full-time engagement preferred 100% onsite Work location: Company headquarters and warehouse facility Immediate start preferred
