About the role
DESCRIPTION
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for an Infrastructure Delivery Install Technician to join our growing team within infrastructure operations. Our Infrastructure team is responsible for day to day installation of servers and network equipment, structured cabling, project work and capacity management. This technician will also be involved with installation and troubleshooting of structured cabling, management of infrastructure inventory levels, physical installation of network and server racks and/or devices and management of data center services vendors. This position requires the successful candidate report to a site location.
You will work in a dynamic environment to drive the stability and sustainability of our next-generation networks and assist in the development of innovative ways to automate and scale our network. You will launch edge server technologies and solve diverse networking impairments. You will quickly and accurately assess a wide range of infrastructure issues, which requires a good understanding of computers, servers, switches and various networking devices from both a hardware and software perspective and a demonstrated willingness to learn and apply new technology.
To be successful in this role you should possess technical aptitude, written and oral communications skills and the ability to deal effectively with people in a wide variety of situations. In addition, you must possess strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability. You will be able to leverage your experience exercising high levels of initiative, judgment, and diplomacy.
This position requires that the candidate selected obtain and maintain an active Reliability Status security clearance with the Government of Canada.
Key job responsibilities
Install, test and troubleshoot fiber optic and copper cabling, including patch panels and patch cords
Work with a partner to move enterprise equipment from loading docks
Manage work and priorities through ticketing system and workflows to complete customer requests and projects
Carry a pager/cell phone for communication, information, and emergencies
Up to 20% travel within geographical work area may be required; some travel outside this zone may be requested
A day in the life
Report current status via ticketing system, status reports, and email
Maintain accurate records and document problems and processes
Exhibit quality workmanship on all work and maintain site cleanliness
Manage, check and coordinate all materials to be delivered to site daily
Ensure that the Data Center Installations comply with all installation practices
Installation and maintenance of copper and fiber cable infrastructure

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of fiber optic and copper cabling standards, testing equipment and troubleshooting methodologies
- High school diploma, or equivalent
- 1+ years of data center, critical environment, computer hardware repair, infrastructure cabling, network deployment, or data center operations experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in data center

CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Cisco/CCNA, Linux (Redhat), Microsoft hardware (installation), AWS, or other industry relevant certifications
-
Experience troubleshooting networks (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, firewalls, LAN/WAN, traceroute, iperf, dig, cURL or similar/related technology)

Knowledge of network cabling, optic types, and test equipment

Experience managing medium to large-scale projects
-
Experience in Linux OS and network troubleshooting, or experience in Linux/RHEL and experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems

Experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair

The starting pay for this position is listed below. Amazon is a total compensation company, additional earnings may include shift differentials, overtime pay, and performance bonuses where applicable. Final pay rate will be based on factors including shift selection, location, and experience. In addition, Amazon offers basic life & AD&D insurance, paid time off, and other resources to improve health and well-being.
