PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Support the VP of Engineering by managing engineering data, reporting, analytics, and automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency, decision-making, and engineering processes across the railway infrastructure network.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Support Engineering leadership with tracking, coordination, and reporting of engineering initiatives and operational priorities
  • Assist with field electronic data entry systems, data collection processes, and maintenance of engineering information
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance automated reports, dashboards, and analytical tools to support business and operational requirements
  • Perform data analytics, programming, and SAP reporting to identify trends, measure performance, and support operational decision-making
  • Compile, analyze, and interpret data from multiple sources and present findings in a clear and meaningful manner
  • Maintain engineering discipline data and ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of information
  • Assist with automation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of engineering systems and processes
  • Prepare and distribute engineering bulletins, broadcasts, and operational communications in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information, resolve issues, and support project initiatives
  • Support reporting and analytics related to railway track and infrastructure performance, maintenance, and operational activities
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail while managing multiple priorities and deadlines

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of railway experience and knowledge of track and infrastructure operations is preferred
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, reporting, and advance spreadsheet functions
  • Experience with data analytics, programming, SAP reporting, and dashboard development
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with ability to interpret and present complex data effectively
  • Ability to process and consolidate information from various departments and stakeholder groups
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work independently and collaboratively within teams and projects
  • Strong organizational skills with high level of accuracy and attention to detail

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

Medical and Drug Testing

This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.

Management Conductor Program

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
