Job Summary We are seeking an Offensive Security Engineer with strong expertise in offensive security, penetration testing, and emerging AI-driven attack methodologies. This role focuses on simulating real-world adversarial attacks across traditional systems and AI-enabled platforms, including LLMs and autonomous agent workflows. You will work on advanced red teaming engagements, validate vulnerabilities, and leverage automation frameworks to enhance testing coverage. The position requires a blend of deep cybersecurity expertise with growing capabilities in AI/ML security and autonomous pentesting.

Key Responsibilities: Conduct end-to-end penetration testing and red team engagements across web, API, cloud, and AI-enabled systems. Simulate adversarial attacks including reconnaissance, exploitation, lateral movement, and post-exploitation scenarios. Identify and exploit AI/LLM vulnerabilities such as prompt injection, model manipulation, and data exfiltration risks. Design and execute tests for AI pipelines including RAG architectures, agent-based systems, and automation workflows. Develop and utilize autonomous pentesting frameworks and AI-driven agents to scale security testing coverage. Build custom tools, scripts, and exploits using Python and security tooling. Perform threat modeling and attack chaining to demonstrate real-world business impact. Document findings and provide actionable remediation recommendations to engineering and security teams. Stay updated with emerging offensive AI tools, attack techniques, and red teaming methodologies.
Qualifications: 6–8 years of experience in penetration testing, red teaming, or offensive security roles. Strong hands-on experience with tools such as Burp Suite, Metasploit, Nmap, and similar. Deep understanding of web, API, and cloud security testing methodologies. Experience performing full-cycle penetration testing and adversary simulations. Strong programming/scripting skills in Python or similar languages. Knowledge of security frameworks such as OWASP and MITRE ATT&CK. Experience building new platforms/products from scratch is highly desirable. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Salary and Other Compensation: The hourly salary for this position is between $[105,500 - 124,000] depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
