About the role

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Sales Engineer, New Business based in Canada. This role sits at the intersection of engineering and commercial strategy, supporting net-new customer acquisition through deep technical expertise and consultative engagement. You will act as a trusted technical advisor during the sales cycle, helping prospects understand how an API-first platform can integrate into their existing systems and solve real business challenges. Working closely with Account Executives and senior technical stakeholders, you will shape evaluation strategies, remove technical barriers, and influence purchasing decisions. This is a high-impact pre-sales position focused on accelerating complex deal cycles and driving revenue growth. You will be hands-on in designing demos, validating integrations, and guiding proof-of-concept work. Accountabilities: Lead the technical sales motion for new enterprise opportunities, serving as the primary technical partner throughout discovery, evaluation, and closing phases. Translate customer needs into clear technical solutions while building trust with both technical and executive stakeholders. Own technical discovery sessions, solution design, and demonstrations for net-new opportunities Partner with Account Executives to build technical win strategies and drive deal progression Design and deliver tailored demos, architectures, and proof-of-concept environments Support integration validation, including APIs, authentication, webhooks, and system architecture alignment Build lightweight prototypes, code samples, and technical assets to accelerate evaluations Lead technical due diligence, security conversations, and RFP/RFI responses Surface customer insights and competitive feedback to Product and Engineering teams Contribute reusable demos and enablement materials to improve team-wide effectiveness Requirements: This role requires a strong technical pre-sales professional with hands-on engineering capability, deep API knowledge, and a consultative approach to complex enterprise sales cycles. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable writing code, presenting to executives, and guiding architectural discussions. 3–6 years of experience in Sales Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Developer Relations, or similar technical pre-sales roles Proven success supporting complex SaaS or API-driven enterprise sales cycles Strong proficiency in at least one backend language (Python, Node.js, Java, Ruby, or similar) Solid understanding of REST APIs, webhooks, OAuth, and modern integration patterns Ability to analyze customer architectures and propose practical implementation approaches Strong consultative discovery skills with the ability to uncover technical and business needs Excellent communication skills, able to engage both technical teams and executive stakeholders Experience in high-growth, fast-paced environments with strong ownership mindset Passion for developer tools, APIs, and improving software development experiences Benefits: Competitive OTE compensation with base and variable pay structure Equity participation in company growth Remote-friendly work environment across Canada Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage Flexible paid time off and supportive work-life balance policies Career growth opportunities in a high-growth, technical SaaS environment Access to modern engineering tools, platforms, and learning resources Collaborative culture with strong cross-functional exposure.
