CGI is offering an exciting opportunity as a Senior Technical Banking Environment Consultant to work with our financial institution clients. As a member of CGI's national practice providing retail banking solutions and services to credit unions, you will be joining an experienced and dynamic team of global IT professionals serving our clients across Canada.

Digital transformation and digital services are disrupting traditional financial institutions, instead offering businesses and households access to services that are customized specifically to their needs. Omni-channel experiences, mobile self-service, predictive analytics, data governance, robotic process automation, FinTech partnerships, and open banking requirements have transformed the landscape. Your future duties and responsibilities

In the role of Technical Banking Environment Consultant, you will be responsible for the successful operation, stability, and optimization of core banking application environments, including overnight batch processing, day-to-day operational support, incident management, application monitoring, and customer satisfaction. You will also contribute to environment builds, application deployments, upgrades, and improvements that enhance operational reliability and efficiency. This role requires a consultant who can navigate complex technical environments, engage effectively with demanding stakeholders, and drive work forward independently while keeping all parties informed. This role requires strong technical leadership within cross-functional project and operational teams.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

Required Work Experience:
. Excellent MS Windows batch file and script writing skills.. 7+ years IT technology support within a cross-functional enterprise environment. Strong service management process skills including Incident Management, Problem Management and Change Management. Experience working in a SLA managed service delivery environment. Experience with Project Management and providing technical leadership on initiatives. Strong technical skills in Intel server environments. Hands‑on experience supporting multi-tier enterprise applications (application services, batch components, and database layers). Experience troubleshooting issues across Windows servers, application logs, batch processes, and SQL Server. Experience supporting multiple environment tiers (QA, IST, UAT, Staging, Production). Ability to work effectively in client environments where expectations are high and timely, clear communication is essential

Preferred Work Experience:
. Experience with automated schedulers such as GECS and Control M. MS Windows System Administration experience. Knowledge of ITIL Framework. Experience supporting or working with financial transaction-based applications. Pearl scripting. Exposure in a banking environment or other environment with high availability requirements. Experience working within the financial sector. Experience designing, modifying, and troubleshooting batch workflows and job dependencies. Experience managing application environments end-to-end, including Windows services, configuration files, integrations, and database connectivity. Familiarity with IT‑Operations‑Management tools such as monitoring dashboards, log aggregators, SIEM systems, and ITSM ticketing platforms. Experience supporting WBDK and Wealthview Banking, or similar core banking systems. Experience working in environments where structured communication, client coordination, and assertive follow‑through are critical

Required Level of Education:
. A diploma or degree from a post-secondary institution with a concentration in Information Technology. Microsoft technical certifications would be a significant asset, Azure in particular

Must Have Technical Skills:
. Windows configuration and support. Script and batch writing. Strong analytic and problem solving skills within operational environments. Technical leadership. Experience with automated schedulers. ITIL Framework. Financial transaction-based applications. PowerShell and CMD scripting for automation and operational tasks. Ability to build, support, and troubleshoot batch jobs and schedules (Control‑M or GECS).. Strong SQL Server skills including queries, troubleshooting, database refreshes, and connection‑level diagnostics. Application monitoring and diagnostics using logs, system tools, and custom utilities. Ability to deploy application code, update configuration files, and validate environment readiness. Experience improving application environments by enhancing monitoring, alerting, automation, or documentation. Ability to identify root causes using system logs, job outputs, SQL traces, and performance metrics

Nice to Have Technical Skills:
. Experience with Wealthview Banking, Ovation or RFS. Hands-on experience with WBDK platform components or development patterns. Azure experience (VMs, networking, storage, monitoring, and access management). Experience with DevOps or automation tooling (build pipelines, release pipelines, or scripting frameworks). Experience standardizing batch patterns or implementing best practices for job sequencing, alerts, and reporting

Soft Skills:
. Must be a creative, self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills as well as strong oral and written communication skills. Must have the ability to effectively solve problems and operate in a cross functional team-oriented IT environment. Must be able to work independently and take ownership of production issues. Must be able to provide technical leadership within the production banking environments. Critical eye for detail. Positive attitude. Able to multitask effectively. Problem Solving skills. Conflict Resolution. Excellent time management, task planning and prioritization skills. Able to adapt quickly to changing client requirements. Ability to build strong relationships with clients and team members. Strong ability to communicate clearly with technical and non‑technical stakeholders, especially when issues are time‑sensitive. Comfort working in environments where expectations are high, timelines are tight, and proactive communication is essential for success. Demonstrated ability to remain composed and solutions‑focused when addressing challenging or complex client requests

Other Requirements:
. Regular overtime and on-call work

CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors including but not limited to skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $85,000 - $160,000.
