CogSci Apps is seeking a dynamic, technically skilled sales professional to help expand sales of Hookmark, our innovative Mac productivity app, to universities, academics, researchers, lawyers, and other knowledge-work professionals. This is a fully remote position. Candidates must live in North America.

Hookmark helps users instantly access and connect the information resources that matter to their work, including documents, emails, web pages, notes, PDFs, folders, tasks, calendar events, and references. It is especially useful for people who work across many apps and need reliable ways to create, retrieve, and manage contextual links between resources. This role involves identifying prospective institutional and professional customers, engaging decision-makers and influencers, demonstrating Hookmark’s value, and helping develop tailored sales approaches for academic and legal markets. The successful candidate will be comfortable discussing cognitive productivity software workflows, explaining cognitive productivity concepts, and translating Hookmark’s capabilities into clear client value.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Mac productivity software, such as DEVONthink, Obsidian, OmniFocus, OmniOutliner, Bookends, Zotero, MindNode Next, and related tools. Familiarity with academic, legal, or research workflows would be a major asset. This is a commission-based sales position with no base salary, though compensation terms are negotiable.

Responsibilities Identify universities, departments, offices, and professional organizations that would benefit from Hookmark, including learning commons, research commons, faculty development offices, distance education units, computing services, libraries, graduate studies offices, law faculties, legal research groups, and continuing education programs. Contact relevant offices and decision-makers to introduce Hookmark and make the case for listing, recommending, licensing, or adopting Hookmark. Provide content for publication on LinkedIn Sales Navigator. Respond to prospective customers who contact us via LinkedIn Sales Navigator or other channels. Develop and deliver persuasive pitches tailored to academic, research, legal, and professional audiences. Assist in creating customized proposals, outreach messages, presentations, and sales materials tailored to client needs. Demonstrate Hookmark to prospective customers, including its ability to link files, emails, web pages, notes, PDFs, tasks, and other information resources. Explain how Hookmark addresses problems such as information fragmentation, context switching, knowledge retrieval, and the meta-access problem. Provide technical guidance during the sales process, including clear explanations of contextual information retrieval, deep PDF linking, app linking (hooking), and cross-application workflows. Develop a deep understanding of Hookmark’s functions, features, integrations, use cases, and value propositions. Gather feedback from prospective customers and communicate market insights to the CogSci Apps team. Help identify new market segments, partnership opportunities, and channels for growth. Skills and Qualifications University degree, preferably a post-graduate degree. Strong knowledge of Mac productivity software, especially tools used by students, professors, researchers, writers, lawyers, and other knowledge workers. Familiarity with apps such as DEVONthink, Obsidian, OmniFocus, OmniOutliner, Bookends, Zotero, MindNode Next, PDF readers, note-taking apps, reference managers, and task managers. Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical information into clear value propositions. Ability to understand and explain software workflows involving multiple apps, documents, references, notes, emails, and web resources. Comfortable contacting prospective customers by email, LinkedIn, phone, or video call. Ability to learn complex software deeply and communicate its benefits simply. Experience selling software, SaaS, productivity tools, educational technology, legal technology, or research tools would be an asset. Experience working with universities, libraries, lawyers, researchers, or professional-services firms would be an asset. Interest in cognitive productivity, knowledge work, education, research, legal workflows, or personal information management would be highly valuable. Compensation This is primarily a commission-based sales role with no base salary, though terms are negotiable depending on experience, scope of work, and expected contribution. Why Join CogSci Apps?
