About the role

We’re looking for a Lead Windows System Administrator to join our IT Infrastructure team within our Winnipeg Office.

The Lead Windows System Administrator leads a team of Windows systems administrators while ensuring the stability, security, performance, and reliability of our Microsoft-based server environments. They provide direct technical and administrative support to all aspects of Windows Server, VMWare, Backup and Recovery, and Amazon Web Services environments for our multi-site 24-hour manufacturing environment. They are responsible for the effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure, including participation in technical research and development.

What You'll Do

  • Manage Windows server infrastructure, including system administration, configuration management, OS upgrades, patching, Active Directory, Entra ID, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and SSL certificate renewals.
    Experience with Active Directory Defederation is a plus
  • Lead and mentor a team of Windows administrators, providing technical guidance, support, and oversight of daily operations.
  • Manage Windows server infrastructure, including system administration, configuration management, OS upgrades, patching, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and SSL certificate renewals.
  • Coordinate infrastructure changes and collaborate with Application Managers, Information Security, developers, DBAs, network, and storage teams to deliver operational and project requirements.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot server and application issues, perform incident resolution, and develop root cause analyses for critical issues.
  • Lead and support infrastructure projects, including server upgrades, automation initiatives, disaster recovery exercises, and operational improvements.
  • Maintain system security and compliance by reviewing security reports, conducting vulnerability assessments, coordinating monthly patch management, and supporting security audits.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, system diagrams, operational procedures, and change management activities, including ServiceNow change coordination.

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years of systems administration experience supporting Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2012, and 2016 environments

  • Strong expertise in systems administration, networking, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, and Group Policy

  • Experience managing and supporting virtualized infrastructure environments

  • Skilled in patch management, system maintenance, and infrastructure security best practices

  • Proficient in scripting and automation to improve operational efficiency

  • Knowledgeable in data backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes

  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and technical support capabilities

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to collaborate effectively and support team success
