About the role

(Previously Posted as Investment Research Engineer)

Be Boring. Make Money.™ is our investment approach, but we are anything but dull. We are a diverse, passionate team united by our commitment to provide our clients with financial peace of mind and our desire to create one of the best companies in the world.

A career with us will be demanding; however, the experience will also be dynamic, supportive, intellectually stimulating, and above all, meaningful. We take pride in doing things a little differently than other investment firms. Innovative ideas, diverse opinions and experiences, and teamwork are expected and rewarded regardless of title or tenure.

Dedicated to our people, we have consistently been recognized as a preferred employer, receiving awards such as Canada’s Top 100 Employers (2026), Alberta Top Employers (2026), and Canada’s Top Small & Medium Employer (2025).

Full Time Location: Calgary, AB Vacancy Status: Existing Role

The Opportunity

We have built an internal Claude Enterprise-like AI platform. This role is for an orchestrator who will use that platform to scale our investment research process.

Consider the investment lifecycle: screening, deep-dive analysis, decision journaling, portfolio monitoring & risk management. You’ll be working closely with our research analysts and portfolio managers to bring the promise of AI to bear on that investment lifecycle.

Duties and Responsibilities

What You'll Build Intelligent monitoring and alerting — portfolio risk signals, position tracking, market event synthesis Decision journaling and synthesis tools — capture reasoning, track conviction, surface patterns across investments Data pipelines that make investment information reusable, consistent, and queryable at scale

Who You Are You're bilingual — fluently speaking both investing and technology. You understand how investment decisions get made, and you know how to build tools that support that process. You move between a portfolio manager's desk and a code editor without switching gears. You're a connector, not a silo. You see how screening feeds into analysis, how analysis feeds into monitoring, how monitoring feeds into risk review. You build systems that span the lifecycle, not point solutions that solve one problem and create three others. You have relentless curiosity. You're genuinely interested in businesses, markets, and how capital allocators think. You read annual reports for fun and then immediately wonder how AI could surface the insight you just found — but for everyone, every time. You ship, not theorize. You prototype fast, get feedback, iterate, and move on. You care deeply about whether people actually use what you build. A beautiful tool nobody touches is worse than a rough one that saves an analyst two hours a day. You're comfortable being multi-hatted. One day you're structuring data, the next you're designing a workflow, the next you're sitting with a PM to understand a new analytical need. You thrive in ambiguity and impose structure without bureaucracy.

Desired Qualifications Strong communication — you can explain a technical concept to a portfolio manager and a business problem to an engineer Builder Credentials — a portfolio of building with AI validated by real value-add usage of what you built Excellence in Data - know how to talk to databases, architect data models, etc. Exposure to various AI tools and prompt engineering techniques Investment research, financial analysis, capital markets exposure

We are keen to understand what you've built, why and how rather than your title, years of experience or toolkit.
