Location: Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton (Remote, On-site might be required) Job Type: 3-Month or 6-Month Contract (Strong possibility of extension) Openings: 3 Hours: 20-40 hours/week Compensation: $50–55/hour
Position Overview We are looking for three experienced IT Systems Engineers to join a large-scale infrastructure integration and deployment initiative supporting enterprise Linux environments. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, automating, and supporting Linux-based infrastructure while assisting with the build-out of new platforms and services. This is an excellent opportunity for infrastructure professionals who enjoy working on enterprise-scale projects involving Linux administration, automation, virtualization, and infrastructure modernization.
Key Responsibilities Design, deploy, configure, and support enterprise Linux server environments. Perform server builds, operating system installations, and infrastructure deployments. Develop, maintain, and improve automation scripts and workflows for provisioning, configuration management, and operational tasks. Implement and support Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automation frameworks. Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, security, and application teams to ensure successful project delivery. Monitor system performance, troubleshoot infrastructure issues, and implement corrective actions. Participate in infrastructure planning, migration, and integration initiatives. Create and maintain technical documentation, deployment procedures, and operational standards. Assist with virtualization platform deployment, configuration, and administration. Support backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability infrastructure solutions. Support testing, validation, and production readiness for newly deployed environments. Required Qualifications 3+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, or Systems Administrator in enterprise environments. Strong hands-on experience administering enterprise Linux operating systems, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, Rocky Linux, Ubuntu, or equivalent distributions. Experience with automation and scripting tools such as Bash, Python, Ansible, Terraform, or similar technologies. Experience administering enterprise virtualization platforms, including VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, or Nutanix AHV. Strong understanding of enterprise server hardware, storage (SAN/NAS), and infrastructure architecture. Experience with Active Directory, LDAP, DNS, DHCP, and enterprise authentication services. Experience with configuration management, patch management, and system lifecycle management. Familiarity with enterprise backup and disaster recovery solutions. Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, VPNs, and firewalls. Experience supporting enterprise monitoring and logging tools such as Zabbix, Nagios, PRTG, Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, or similar platforms. Experience working within ITIL-based operational environments and change management processes. Proven experience deploying and supporting enterprise server infrastructure. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across operating systems, infrastructure, networking, and deployment processes. Experience supporting infrastructure builds, migrations, or integration projects. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Nutanix infrastructure. Experience with container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes. Exposure to Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Familiarity with Git, GitLab, or Azure DevOps for infrastructure automation and version control. Experience with infrastructure monitoring, configuration management, and systems automation tools. Familiarity with enterprise networking, storage, and security best practices. Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure integration or transformation projects. Relevant certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, VMware VCP, Nutanix NCP, or Linux+ are considered an asset.
