Software Engineer (Mainframe – COBOL | DB2 | JCL) We are hiring a Software Engineer (Level 3) to join a large-scale Risk Technology team working on enterprise-grade customer risk assessment solutions for retail banking systems. This role supports an initiative focused on small business credit limit automation, specifically building and enhancing systems that manage automated credit limit reductions. The project is currently in the active development phase within a modern enterprise environment. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain applications using COBOL on mainframe systems Work with DB2 and JCL for batch and transaction processing Perform unit testing of COBOL/DB2 modules Support QA testing cycles and resolve defects Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver enhancements Participate in code reviews and maintain high-quality standards in delivery Required Skills 5+ years of hands-on experience in Mainframe technologies: COBOL, JCL, DB2 Experience with version control/change management tools such as Endevor (or similar tools like Control-M) Strong understanding of mainframe application development and maintenance Nice to Have Experience with scheduling tools such as CA7 Exposure to CI/CD tools like Jenkins Experience working in financial services or enterprise banking systems Soft Skills Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to work in a fast-paced enterprise environment Strong problem-solving and debugging abilities What You’ll Gain Exposure to large-scale risk management systems Hands-on experience with enterprise COBOL mainframe modernization Work within a collaborative DevOps-enabled engineering environment Opportunity to contribute to critical financial systems impacting small business lending
