About the role
Principal Azure Cloud Platform Engineer Location: Toronto, ON, Canada Work Model: Hybrid (2 days/week onsite)
Required Skills 10+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering Hands-on Microsoft Azure platform implementation and deployment experience Strong Platform Engineering background Hands-on coding experience using Python (or similar) Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, GitHub Actions, ARM, or CDKTF CI/CD pipeline development and DevOps automation Azure networking, landing zones, subscriptions, identity, governance, and IAM Experience building reusable cloud platform capabilities and engineering enablement tooling Azure PaaS, Containers, API Management, and cloud-native architectures Security-by-design, compliance, encryption, governance, and operational controls Monitoring, logging, observability, alerting, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) concepts Experience designing, implementing, and operating large-scale Azure platforms in enterprise or regulated environments Strong leadership experience driving enterprise-wide initiatives and collaborating with senior technology leaders Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to confidently present to MD/CIO-level executives Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Preferred Skills Azure Certifications AI exposure
Responsibilities Design, build, and operate secure, scalable Azure cloud infrastructure and shared platform services. Implement Azure landing zones, networking, identity, governance, and foundational cloud capabilities. Develop reusable Infrastructure as Code frameworks and deployment automation. Build CI/CD pipelines, DevOps tooling, and engineering enablement platforms. Implement security, governance, compliance, and operational best practices. Develop monitoring, observability, logging, and reliability solutions. Partner with engineering, security, and risk teams to drive enterprise Azure adoption and platform modernization. Mentor engineering teams and lead high-impact cloud initiatives across the enterprise.
