About the role
Room 8 Group is an end-to-end strategic partner in external game development. Working across all platforms, we provide creative and technical expertise across game development, technology, art, trailers, and QA for AAA and AA games. Our Game Development team provides comprehensive co-dev and full-cycle dev solutions, across all platforms. We’ve helped make some of the biggest games of the past decade, like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and III, and we work with dozens of the world’s biggest publishers and developers. Through primarily organic growth, we are proudly independent, now home to around 1,100 creatives based in Europe, North America, and South America.
The next great challenge is coming:
We are looking for a Senior Game Designer, who will drive gameplay design on a large-scale social multiplayer entertainment experience — a vibrant 3D theme-park-style world built around well-established entertainment IP, developed in Unreal Engine 5. The project combines a shared social space with a wide variety of themed attractions and mini-games designed for a broad audience.
You will own gameplay design across the project and the decisions that sit beneath it — the 3Cs, the mini-game portfolio, the metagame, and the quality of everything you ship.
This is a hybrid role at the intersection of game design and technical design — you should be as comfortable building, scripting, and tuning gameplay systems in-engine as you are designing them on paper. You are expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy and hold your work to an uncompromising standard.
Superpowers you have:
6+ years of professional experience in Game Design or Technical Design on AA/AAA PC, console, or major live-service or UGC-platform titles. Strong experience designing and implementing gameplay systems in Unreal Engine 5+ using Blueprint scripting, design tooling, and in-engine prototyping. Strong understanding of core game design principles — systems design, player feedback, usability, pacing, and game feel — applied to fast-session multiplayer experiences. Proven ability to take features from concept through prototype, implementation, iteration, and polish. Strong understanding of gameplay performance practices in modern 3D games — streaming, culling, scalability, and CPU-conscious scripting. Hands-on experience designing multiplayer mini-games, party games, or social platform experiences (e.g., Fortnite Creative / UEFN, Roblox, or comparable). Strong problem-solving skills and comfort debugging gameplay behaviours and technical workflows. Experience shipping at least one title or major gameplay feature in a professional environment, with clear ownership of gameplay systems. Ability to mentor and support other designers, with experience working through a full production cycle. Excellent communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams, with strong documentation habits and excellent written and verbal English.
You’re a rockstar if you have: Experience with scripting or programming languages beyond Blueprint — Lua, C#, or Python. Experience with AI systems — state trees, behaviour trees, navigation, or systemic gameplay. Familiarity with performance profiling and optimisation in large-scale or open-world environments. Experience with multiplayer or network-aware gameplay systems. Experience building custom tools, editor utilities, or designer workflows. Familiarity with data-driven gameplay systems, procedural workflows, or live-service pipelines. Understanding of UX/UI workflows and player-facing interaction design. Experience working with licensed IP and brand or licensor approval pipelines, or shipping content on UGC platforms such as UEFN or Roblox.
Becoming part of Room 8 Group, you will:
Translate the creative vision into cohesive, high-quality social gameplay and mini-game experiences. Own the mini-game portfolio end to end — define formats, rulesets, session pacing, difficulty, and replayability, and take features from concept through prototype, implementation, iteration, and polish. Design and implement gameplay systems hands-on in Unreal Engine 5 using Blueprint scripting — prototyping, building, and tuning mechanics in-engine rather than handing off paper designs. Own the 3Cs for a stylised multiplayer experience — locomotion, camera, and interaction feel that hold a consistently high-quality bar across all attractions and platforms. Design the connective metagame — progression, collection, quests, events, and social systems that tie the world together and drive long-term engagement. Champion performance-aware gameplay implementation — design features with scalability in mind, avoid unnecessary per-frame logic, keep systemic overhead low, and debug gameplay behaviours and technical workflows as they arise. Work closely with Art and Narrative teams to ensure each themed experience captures the intended tone and spirit while meeting all brand requirements. Participate in design reviews and help ensure systems-level work meets the quality bar before milestone gates. Mentor and support other designers — share design and implementation best practices and contribute to a culture of quality and accountability. Maintain detailed design documentation.
Join the team of inspiring game dev professionals, and get even more:
Competitive financial reward (yes, we are fair enough); Challenges to raise your XPs score working on the projects of the top global game dev publishers; Private medical care, paid time off; A culture of diversity and inclusion to unite the most outstanding talents; Community of people who understand and share your passion for games.
Together we will bring games to the next level. Exactly with you.
