At the heart of our mission is to provide non-partisan administrative and procedural services to all MPPs, along with operational support for the daily activities of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. Reporting to the Manager of Data Management & Preservation, the Data Architect is a senior role responsible for leading the planning, management and execution of the Assembly’s data management strategies and programs, working in close collaboration with a dynamic group of information and technology professionals.

What You’ll Do

You’ll act with integrity to

Support legislative operations and Members of Provincial Parliament by leading the development of an enterprise-wide data governance and management program Lead and advise on the development of data architecture roadmaps aligned with organizational priorities Design and implement data models, taxonomies, metadata frameworks, and other integrated solutions Design and advise on data warehousing, cloud management and business intelligence initiatives Evaluate and advise on emerging data-related technologies (e.g., AI, cloud services, linked open data)

You’ll support our collaboration as you:

Collaborate with stakeholders across the Assembly to define data standards, policies, and best practices Oversee the complete data lifecycle, including architecture, data classification, archiving and access requirements Provide leadership, guidance, and training to teams designing or working with live data systems Ensure work meets the organization’s obligations around data integrity, security, confidentiality and availability

How You Qualify

You demonstrate excellence through your:

Degree in information management, technology, computer science or related field, or an equivalent combination of 5 years or more related education and work experience in the area of data governance and data architecture Experience working with data frameworks in a public sector, legislative, or similar regulated industry Experience assessing and managing data schemas including data warehousing in an organizational context Experience leading cross-functional teams working on data migration, consolidation, and secure access Expert knowledge of data management tools including Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Purview and Fabric Knowledge of data security concepts including access control, security groups and permissions management Excellent communications, interpersonal and relationship management skills, and the ability to interact professionally with all levels of staff
