Summary
Location: Montreal Work Mode: Day 1 onboarding onsite/in office presence 3x/week
Responsibilities
Implement and manage the Linux infrastructure. Evaluate, certify, integrate, and maintain various products, including hardware and operating systems like Red Hat Linux and Solaris. Manage system services such as DNS, DHCP, NTP, and syslog. Interact with numerous business units to ensure smooth operations. Diagnose and resolve production-impacting issues in the compute and storage plant. Collaborate with other infrastructure teams for outage resolution. Maintain operational stability and compliance for risk & control programs. Collaborate with engineering teams to test and certify new hardware & software products. Participate in occasional weekend project work for onboarding new UNIX assets.
Requirements
Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role. Strong knowledge and experience with Linux, preferably Red Hat and/or other Linux distributions. Proficient in services like DNS, DHCP, NTP, Kerberos, SSHD, PXE, SFTP, HTTPD, Docker, etc. Familiarity with enterprise server hardware models, networking, routers, and switches. Ability to read, understand, and write intermediate to complex scripts using KSH, Bash, Perl, Python, etc. Understanding of configuration management tools like Red Hat Satellite servers, Quattor, Puppet, Chef, etc. Knowledge of clustering, virtualization, NAS, NFS, and SAN. Excellent communication skills to explain technical problems to a non-technical audience. Available for on-call duties (1 week out of every 4-6 weeks). Ability to work in a global distributed team.
Preferred Skills
Experience troubleshooting incidents involving compute resources and network problems. Experience with analyzing and diagnosing kernel crashes/core dumps and network packet captures. Sound knowledge of networking, TCP/IP, Layer 2/3 network design, firewalls, switches, and routers. Experience working in a DevOps environment. Knowledge and experience with various server hardware models and vendors like IBM, Dell, etc. Ability to identify performance bottlenecks and tune system parameters for better throughput. Understanding of load balancing, high availability, and business continuity.
