Role Description The Control Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in London, ON. This role is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing control systems that support Aspire’s insect-based farming operations and related production processes. Day-to-day tasks include tracking system performance, identifying deviations or inefficiencies, performing routine checks and calibrations, and documenting findings to support process improvements. The Control Specialist collaborates closely with operations, engineering, and quality teams to ensure safe, consistent, and efficient production flows aligned with regulatory and internal standards. The role also involves troubleshooting equipment or control issues, supporting implementation of new technologies, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.
Qualifications Greater than 5 years of experience in a control technician role as a Licensed Electrician 442A. Experience with Food manufacturing is considered an asset. Highly proficient in PLC/HMI and process programming, troubleshooting and networking Allen Bradley hardware. Develop detailed designs, implement, troubleshoot and test SCADA and integration solutions that meet project requirements Hands on experience for Perspective and Vision modules in Ignition know Install, configure, Architecture, Licensing, Scripting, Reporting, Database transactions in Ignition. Familiar with current best practices related to designing secure network architecture for remote access and configuring SSL /TLS in ignition Able to import BACnet devices into ignition, verify data flow, and create control and reporting loops Able to add features and functions using python Familiar with SQL databases and able to store and retrieve data related to Ignition and BacNet - Coordinate and carry out Full Functional Factory Testing (including UAT) of Ignition. Basic familiarity with Lean manufacturing (certification an asset). A strong customer service focus, both internal and external. A strong attention to detail Ability to communicate both written and verbal Able to work within a team with strong interpersonal skills including leadership and collaborative influence skills. Ability to work in a team / independently in a busy environmentt Experience with routine maintenance operations. Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment. If required, you can work outside of your normal work schedule. 24/7 availability is required Physical ability to lift to 50lbs. May require some travel, a driver's license is required Comfortable standing for long periods, use of a respirator, bend, twisting, kneeling, and working in extreme cold when required.
