About the role
About Ultrassure Ultrassure builds AI-powered software for the roughly $7.5T global insurance market. Insurance still runs on outdated systems, spreadsheets, PDFs, and email. We are building AI-native tools for insurers, MGAs, brokers, and reinsurers to help them turn complex, unstructured insurance data into useful software, workflows, and intelligence. Our platform, UltraContract, is used by insurers, MGAs, brokers, and reinsurers across Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, and the United Kingdom. More than $5B of premium is already flowing through the platform. We raised a $500k pre-seed last summer, grew from 0 to six-figure ARR, and are growing triple digit month over month. We are raising our seed round this summer. We are a small, focused team that ships daily and moves fast.
The Role We are looking for a Full Stack Engineer to join as one of our early engineers. You will work directly with the founders and customers to build core product, infrastructure, and AI systems. This is a high-impact role where your work will directly shape the product, architecture, and engineering culture. This is not a “wait for the sprint” environment. If you like shipping fast, owning meaningful problems, and seeing your work in production quickly, this is the role.
What You Will Do You will work across the full stack, including frontend, backend, infrastructure, and AI systems. You will: Build product using Next.js, TypeScript, Python, Django, and AWS Work deeply with ChatGPT and Claude APIs Build with tools, skills, MCP, agents, structured outputs, and evals Use Codex and other AI coding tools every day Productize AI for document parsing, policy extraction, data enrichment, and workflow automation Help scale auth, RBAC, multi-tenancy, queues, caching, AWS infrastructure, CI/CD, and secure data pipelines Improve testing, monitoring, observability, security, and release quality Work directly with customers to understand messy workflows and turn them into useful product
What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone with strong engineering ability, good product judgment, and a bias toward shipping. You should have: Strong full-stack engineering ability Strong experience with Next.js, TypeScript, Python, and Django Experience building and operating production systems on AWS Strong ability with ChatGPT, Claude, Codex, MCP, agents, tools, and LLM workflows Good product judgment and a bias toward shipping High ownership, low ego, and comfort with ambiguity Good instincts around security, reliability, and production systems Interest in complex workflows, messy documents, and turning unstructured information into useful software Ability to work from our Bay & King office in downtown Toronto Legal eligibility to work in Canada You do not need a specific number of years of experience. You might be a recent graduate or have several years of experience. We care most about skill, taste, speed, and what you have built.
Bonus Points Bonus points if you have experience with: Insurance, fintech, B2B SaaS, or regulated industries Document parsing, OCR, extraction pipelines, evals, or human-in-the-loop systems AWS production infrastructure Open source projects, side projects, demos, agents, or MCP servers Building products that handle messy data, complex permissions, or high-trust workflows
Why Ultrassure Real traction: Six-figure ARR, triple-digit month-over-month growth, and $5B+ of premium on-platform Massive market: Insurance is one of the largest industries in the world and still runs on outdated workflows Early team: Your work will shape the product, architecture, and culture High impact: You will work directly with founders, customers, and production systems Meaningful ownership: Competitive salary and meaningful equity in an early-stage company Strong working environment: Central downtown Toronto office at Bay & King, with gym and squash memberships included
How to Stand Out Send us something you have built. A GitHub repo, demo, agent, MCP server, document extraction workflow, open source project, or shipped product matters more than a polished resume.
