Job Description
: We are seeking a Senior IBM i / AS400 Developer to support and enhance applications within a telecommunications billing environment. The role requires strong technical expertise, hands-on development experience, and the ability to independently manage estimation, design, development, production support, and delivery across legacy system
s. Key Responsibilit iesOwn IBM i applications across development, maintenance, and production suppo rt.Analyze requirements, perform impact assessments, and deliver technical designs aligned with SDLC standar ds.Provide effort estimation, delivery planning, code reviews, and enforce coding and documentation standar ds.Support testing, deployments, and production issue resolution, including root cause analysis and post-release suppo rt.Work independently on small to medium initiatives with minimal transition suppo rt.Ensure knowledge transfer and operational readiness across QA, Operations, and business tea ms.Identify transition risks and improve documentation for sustainable suppo
rt. Must-Have Requirements / Skills & Experi ence8+ Years of IBM i / AS400 experience with strong hands-on development expert ise.Proficiency in RPG, RPGLE (free format), CL/CLLE, COBOL, SQL, Embedded SQL, DB2 for i, and ILE architect ure.Experience with batch jobs, scheduled processes, display files, subfiles, and legacy application supp ort.Strong experience in telecommunications billing environments, including Billing, Rating, Accounts Receivable, Order Management, and system integrations (web services, MQ).Experience with IBM i development and support tools such as RDi, VS Code, GitHub Copilot, Implementer (MKS), Hawkeye, PKZIP/PKENCR YPT.Strong capability in impact analysis, technical documentation, solution design, estimation, and delivery plann ing.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with ability to work across business, QA, and Operations te ams.Ability to ramp up quickly, work independently, and manage delivery with limited transition supp ort.Candidate must be eligible to apply for Government of Canada (GoC) Security Cleara
