Full Stack Developer — Remote —

Help deliver the next generation of government digital services through innovative transformation projects. Contribute to technical discovery, solution design, software development, and continuous improvement while collaborating with agile teams in a primarily remote work environment. 50 positions available.

What is in it for you:

Salaried: $80-90 per hour. Incorporated Business Rate: $95-105 per hour. 12-month contract with a maximum extension term of 24 months. Day schedule, 36.25 hours per week. Weekday schedule from 8:15 am to 4:30 pm, with a 1-hour lunch break. Enjoy the flexibility of remote work.

Responsibilities:

Participate in project research and discovery activities, including field research and user interviews. Lead technical discovery and produce related technical artifacts, diagrams, and documentation. Design and develop technical solutions based on discovery outcomes. Deliver features that support digital transformation initiatives and improve user experiences. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve functional and non-functional defects. Improve solution code quality, tooling, and technical documentation to enhance maintainability. Collaborate with front-end designers to deliver solutions with a consistent user experience. Advise product owners on technical implementation approaches and delivery options. Support solution deployment and product launches. Contribute reusable components and capabilities that support user-centric digital services. Support ongoing development by onboarding technical team members, maintaining technical documentation, and improving development and quality practices.

What you will need to succeed:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or an accepted equivalent. 5 years of experience working as a Full Stack Developer on complex software solutions in an Agile environment. 5 years of experience using source control, particularly Git, in collaborative software development. 3 years of experience working on production applications using modern application frameworks. 3 years of experience with automated unit testing and integration testing. 3 years of experience with database technologies, including relational databases and alternative database solutions. Conflict of Interest attestation. Ability to successfully meet applicable security clearance requirements, including a criminal record check and, where required, enhanced security clearance.

Nice to have

2 years of experience incrementally transforming legacy systems into modern digital services. 2 years of experience with at least one or more technologies from the specified technology stack. 2 years of experience with design patterns and software architecture principles. 2 years of experience with Government of Alberta development guidelines and principles. 2 years of experience working with CI/CD pipelines. 2 years of experience working with teams that apply UX design, service design, design thinking, or human-centred design. 1 year of experience leveraging generative AI and agentic tooling to produce executive-grade deliverables.
