Role: Senior QA Automation Architect (API Automation) Location: Scarborough, Ontario, Canada (Hybrid) Hiring Mode: Contract
Pay: CAD 45-50/Hr.
Role Overview: We are looking for a highly experienced Senior QA Automation Architectto lead the design, implementation, and governance of enterprise-wide quality engineering and API automation strategies. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in API test automation, modern QA practices, CI/CD, cloud-native technologies, and quality architecture within the eCommerce domain. This role requires a technical leader who can build scalable automation frameworks, establish QA standards, mentor engineering teams, and drive a quality-first culture across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Responsibilities: Design, implement, and maintain enterprise-wide QA architecture, standards, and automation strategies. Develop and maintain QA architectural artifacts, engineering policies, procedures, and standards. Design scalable, reusable, and maintainable automation frameworks for Web, Mobile, API, Data Engineering, and AI applications. Establish testing systems, quality gates, logging, reporting, metrics, and feedback mechanisms across the SDLC. Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and rapid feedback. Define implementation-level testing architecture to support scalability, maintainability, performance, and reliability. Contribute to and maintain Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and other engineering documentation. Evaluate, recommend, and implement testing tools, frameworks, and technologies based on scalability, performance, security, and compliance requirements. Drive organization-wide quality automation initiatives, including eCommerce automation projects. Implement and enhance Integration, Acceptance, Performance, Security, and API testing platforms. Support QA operational practices and ensure adherence to engineering governance and quality standards. Partner with cross-functional engineering teams and Principal Engineers to promote Quality Automation best practices. Mentor engineers through knowledge sharing, training, and coaching on automation frameworks and QA methodologies. Champion Shift-Left testing practices and continuous quality improvement throughout the SDLC. Foster a customer-centric approach by aligning testing strategies with business objectives and user expectations.
Required Skills & Qualifications: Experience Minimum 10 years of experiencein API Test Automation and Quality Engineering. Proven experience working in the eCommerce domain. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or an equivalent discipline. API Automation & Testing Extensive hands-on experience with API automation tools and frameworks, including: Karate Rest Assured Postman Strong expertise in designing and implementing enterprise-scale test automation frameworks. Experience developing comprehensive automation strategies across multiple testing layers. Programming & Frameworks Strong working knowledge of: Java JavaScript TypeScript HTML CSS Spring Boot ReactJS Next.js Tailwind CSS DevOps & Quality Engineering Proven experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines. Strong understanding of Shift-Left testing methodologies. Experience implementing quality controls throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Ability to improve testing efficiency through automation, reporting, and quality gates. Cloud, Containers & DevOps Technologies Hands-on experience with: Docker ContainerD Kubernetes (K8S/K3S) Container registries and artifact repositories, including Artifactory, GCR, ACR, and ECR. API & Integration Technologies Strong understanding of: REST APIs GraphQL Event-driven architectures Messaging platforms such as Apache Kafka and Google Pub/Sub. IT Service Management Working knowledge of ITIL v4processes, including: Change Management Incident Management Problem Management Knowledge Management Architecture & Collaboration Tools Experience using: Miro diagrams.net FigJam Mermaid.js
