Simulation, Training Technology & IT Support at ITTC North Bay Our Simulation, Training Technology & IT Support function supports the systems, software, hardware, networks, and mission environments used to deliver advanced tactical aviation training at ITTC North Bay. Working with Mission Combat Simulator (MCS) systems and other simulation platforms, this team helps ensure simulator sessions are technically prepared, reliable, and responsive to instructor and student needs. The role also provides the first point of in-house IT support for the North Bay facility. The environment is hands-on, technical, and operationally focused. Simulator availability, basic IT reliability, attention to detail, and timely troubleshooting directly support training delivery and operational readiness. Position Summary The Flight Simulator & IT Support Technician is responsible for supporting the setup, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of ITTC North Bay’s simulator systems while also serving as the primary on-site IT support resource for the North Bay facility. This role supports Mission Combat Simulator (MCS) operations, simulator session preparation, hardware and software troubleshooting, system calibration, mission content support, and day-to-day IT assistance for staff, instructors, students, and operational teams. As a key member of the Simulation, Training Technology & IT Support team, this position works closely with instructors, operations, ITPS head office, external IT providers, and technical staff to ensure both simulator systems and local IT systems remain reliable, secure, and ready for use. Key Responsibilities Simulator Operations & Session Support Operate, configure, and support Mission Combat Simulator (MCS) systems used for flight test and tactical training Prepare simulator sessions, mission profiles, aircraft configurations, and scenario files in support of scheduled training activities Provide technical support to instructors and students during live simulator sessions Monitor simulator performance and respond quickly to technical issues to minimize downtime Support the setup and execution of training profiles involving aircraft such as the F/A-18, F-16, and L-39 Technical Maintenance & Troubleshooting Perform routine inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting of simulator hardware, software, displays, controls, computer systems, and associated technical equipment Diagnose and resolve issues involving computer systems, simulator software, network configuration, projection or display systems, avionics panels, and flight control interfaces Calibrate simulator components and verify proper operation before training use Document technical issues, corrective actions, configuration changes, and recurring system concerns Coordinate with internal teams, ITPS head office, external IT providers, and vendors where required to support simulator and IT reliability In-House IT Support Provide first-line IT support for ITTC North Bay staff, instructors, students, and operational teams Troubleshoot computers, peripherals, printers, displays, meeting-room equipment, network connectivity, user access, and common software issues Support the setup, maintenance, and basic configuration of workstations, training-room technology, and simulator-related IT infrastructure Coordinate with ITPS head office, external IT providers, and vendors for escalated issues or specialized support Assist with onboarding and offboarding users, including equipment setup, access requests, and basic account coordination Maintain local inventory of IT equipment, cables, peripherals, and related technical assets Support basic cybersecurity hygiene, including password practices, access control, software updates, phishing awareness, and incident escalation Mission Content & System Integration Collaborate with instructors and training staff to develop, refine, and update simulator missions, scenarios, and training content Support the integration, testing, and validation of new simulation technologies, software updates, and system enhancements Assist with mission creation, multiplayer or networked simulation setup, and scenario troubleshooting Maintain awareness of relevant simulation platforms and tools, including DCS World, X-Plane, Prepar3D, or similar environments Support continuous improvement of simulator realism, usability, and training effectiveness Operational Support & Safety Maintain a clean, organized, and safe simulation centre environment Ensure simulator operations are conducted in accordance with company procedures, safety expectations, and operational requirements Support scheduling readiness by ensuring systems, peripherals, and training materials are prepared in advance of simulator sessions Communicate technical limitations, risks, or readiness concerns to instructors and management Perform other duties in support of simulation operations, in-house IT support, technical readiness, and ITTC North Bay training delivery Qualifications & Experience Post-secondary education, diploma, certification, or equivalent experience in simulation technology, computer systems, electronics, aviation, aerospace, information technology, or a related technical field Experience working with computer hardware, software troubleshooting, networks, peripherals, user support, or technical systems Comfortable providing first-line IT support to users in a professional, operational environment Strong enthusiasm for flight simulation, aviation, mission systems, and tactical training environments Experience with flight simulation platforms such as DCS World, X-Plane, Prepar3D, or similar systems is considered a strong asset Familiarity with F/A-18, F-16, L-39, or similar aircraft simulation modules is considered an asset Ability to diagnose and resolve both simulator-related and general IT hardware/software issues in a practical, hands-on environment Strong communication and collaboration skills with a positive, can-do attitude Ability to manage tasks independently, prioritize effectively, and support operations in a dynamic training environment Reliable transportation to and from the workplace in North Bay Preferred Skills Experience creating, editing, or troubleshooting missions and scenarios in DCS World, Prepar3D, X-Plane, or similar environments Familiarity with LUA scripting, multiplayer setup, mission server configuration, or networked simulation environments Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Windows workstations, basic networking, printers, user accounts, or help desk workflows is considered an asset Understanding of mixed-reality simulation, live-virtual-constructive training, or networked training architectures Basic to advanced knowledge of flight dynamics, avionics systems, aircraft operations, or mission systems Previous experience in aviation, military, technical training, simulation, gaming technology, IT support, electronics, or a regulated operational environment Core Competencies Strong technical aptitude and practical troubleshooting ability across simulator and IT systems High attention to detail and commitment to simulator readiness and IT reliability Ability to remain calm and effective while supporting live training activities Strong communication skills with instructors, students, staff,
