About the role
Resource Modeling Solutions is seeking a creative and driven Frontend Developer to join our distributed team. This role is ideal for someone who loves crafting fast, elegant, and reliable user experiences; specializing in making complex data feel intuitive and actionable. You will help design, implement, and refine the front-end of AMP, our visualization and analytics platform for mining and mineral resource estimation.
You'll work in a modern React 19 + TypeScript codebase (with the React Compiler enabled) built on the TanStack suite (Query, Router, Form, Virtual), Zustand, Zod, Headless UI, Tailwind CSS, and dnd-kit, backed by a fully typed GraphQL API (Hasura + GraphQL Code Generator). Beyond standard app UI, AMP includes interactive 3D visualization of geologic models (vtk.js/WebGL), charting, embedded code editors, Jupyter notebook integration, and real-time collaboration, so there's plenty of room to go deep on performance and data-heavy interfaces. This position blends collaborative and independent work, and it's a great fit for strong communicators who are self-motivated and comfortable in a remote, distributed environment.
Details Job type: Full-time with flexible hours (we aim for core overlap hours for collaboration) Location: Remote first, with potential for hybrid work in Calgary or Toronto
Responsibilities Develop new user interfaces, and maintain and enhance existing ones Build modular, reusable components that align with the overall design of the application Collaborate with designers and back-end developers to create prototypes and translate them into functioning interfaces that integrate with our GraphQL and REST APIs Optimize performance in data-heavy views - profiling render bottlenecks, virtualizing large datasets, and offloading work to web workers where appropriate Improve maintainability by writing quality code, refactoring, adding unit and end-to-end tests, and writing effective documentation Assist with day-to-day development and support
Required Experience Proven history developing user interfaces using modern React with TypeScript Experience with Tailwind CSS Experience with client-side data fetching and state management (e.g. TanStack Query, Zustand, or similar) Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Vitest/Jest, React Testing Library, or Playwright Success working on a team and in a self-directed environment Experience with source control (git) Excellent problem-solving skills and strong verbal and written communication skills
Bonus Experience University degree or diploma in a software-related discipline, or equivalent related experience Experience with the TanStack suite (Query, Router, Form, Virtual), Zustand, Zod, Headless UI, or dnd-kit Experience with GraphQL (Hasura, GraphQL Code Generator, typed operations) Experience with data visualization or 3D graphics (vtk.js, WebGL, Recharts, or similar) Experience with Playwright end-to-end testing Experience with Vite, esbuild, ESLint, and Prettier Experience with Microsoft Azure and/or AWS Experience with databases and related frameworks/tooling Experience with Docker or similar container solutions Extra bonus for a completion certificate from testingjavascript.com, epicweb.dev, totaltypescript.com, or epicreact.dev
