Summary of Director, Data Strategy & Insights role: Are you a forward-looking data professional ready to shape how an organization understands and acts on information? Destination Greater Victoria (DGV) is seeking a Director, Data Strategy and Insights to work closely with the CEO in leading our data platform strategy and enterprise risk insights. In this cross-functional role, you will transform complex data, external research, and government reporting into clear, decision-ready insights that guide strategic direction across every part of the business. You will lead the development of a scalable and modern approach to data management and analytics. Collaborate with leaders across the organization to identify trends and improve data quality, turning information into action. Working with platforms such as Power BI, Snowflake, CoStar, and AirDNA, you will have the opportunity to recommend more efficient ways to use data and unlock new value for the organization. This position is a hybrid role, with a requirement to work in-office at least three times per week, requiring the successful candidate to be located in the Greater Victoria region. It is a full-time position, 35 hours per week. The salary is between $85,000-$90,000. What you need to bring: Bachelor’s degree in business, business administration, data analytics, economics, or a related field. 2–5 years of experience in data analytics, research, consulting, or a related field. Experience interpreting external research, government reports, and statistical datasets. Strong ability to synthesize data into clear insights and recommendations for decision-makers. Exposure to enterprise-level thinking, including risk awareness, trend identification, and strategic analysis. Demonstrated proficiency with analytics and data tools, with strong day-to-day use of Excel and Power BI, and working experience with platforms such as CoStar and AirDNA. Familiarity with modern data environments, including an understanding of data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake) and how structured data is stored and accessed. Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain data in plain language to non-technical audiences. Curious and forward-looking; able to identify patterns and emerging trends. Strong judgement in interpreting data responsibly, including understanding limitations and risk. Collaborative and pragmatic; able to work across teams and balance competing priorities.
