Role Description The Technical Cofounder will lead the design, development, and scaling of Nexaid’s AI-powered pharmacy automation platform in a full-time, on-site role based in Montreal, QC. Day-to-day responsibilities include architecting system components, guiding software development, and ensuring robust integrations with pharmacy management systems and OCR technologies. The role involves hands-on coding, reviewing technical work, and establishing engineering best practices, CI/CD pipelines, and security standards aligned with PIPEDA requirements. The Technical Cofounder will collaborate closely with the founding team on product roadmap, experimentation, and technical feasibility, as well as engage with customers to translate workflow needs into product features. This role also includes building and mentoring a technical team, contributing to fundraising activities, and setting the long-term technical vision for the company. Qualifications Strong skills in software engineering and system architecture, including experience building scalable, cloud-based platforms. Hands-on proficiency with AI/ML or data-intensive applications, such as OCR, natural language processing, or virtual assistants. Background in API design and integration, particularly with third-party enterprise or healthcare software systems. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain code quality, testing frameworks, and DevOps practices (version control, CI/CD, monitoring). Understanding of data privacy, security, and compliance, ideally with experience in regulated environments or healthcare technology. Product-oriented mindset with experience collaborating on roadmaps, prioritizing features, and iterating based on user feedback. Ability to recruit, mentor, and manage technical talent in a startup or high-growth environment. Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with non-technical stakeholders. Comfort with ownership of technical decisions, high accountability, and working in a fast-paced, resource-constrained startup setting. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
