Role Overview:

The IT Support Specialist delivers Tier 1 technical support across the organization, providing hands-on assistance with hardware, software, account access, and troubleshooting to ensure minimal downtime and seamless user experience. The role is responsible for onboarding and offboarding processes, including device setup, account provisioning, asset tracking, and secure equipment handling, while also administering Microsoft 365 and Azure AD environments. In addition, the position manages the corporate device lifecycle through Mobile Device Management (MDM) tools, enforcing security policies, maintaining system compliance, supporting endpoint security, and contributing to IT documentation, inventory accuracy, and infrastructure improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities and Capabilities

  • Support Microsoft 365, Azure AD, VPN, and various business applications
  • Provide Tier 1 support for hardware, software, and account access issues
  • Monitor security alerts, logs, and incidents
  • Onboarding & Offboarding process - device management & user accounts
  • Prepare and configure new hire devices (laptops, desktops, accessories) and user accounts
  • Maintain an accurate asset database to ensure every device is accounted for and assigned to the correct user.
  • Assign appropriate security groups, distribution lists, and application access based on job role
  • Collect all company-issued IT equipment and verify return of all assets in the process of offboarding
  • Wipe and re-image devices for redeployment
  • Ensure all devices maintained by Intune Policies such as BitLocker encryption.
  • Securely wipe and retire hardware according to data destruction standards.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computers, mobile devices, and peripherals
  • Monitor and push OS and third-party application updates to mitigate vulnerabilities.
  • Email Quarantine Monitoring
  • Conduct routine security audits, access reviews, and patch compliance checks
  • Support employee security awareness initiatives
  • Troubleshoot Windows/macOS system issues and software problems
  • Maintain documentation for troubleshooting procedures and IT processes
  • Support IT projects, new technologies, and infrastructure improvements
  • Develops training materials and procedures and/or train users in the proper use of hardware and software
  • Other assignments as required.

Qualifications

  • University degree in IT or Computer Science
  • Minimum 3 years of IT experience in a similar role in a corporate environment
  • Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11 and macOS environments
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and peripheral issues
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 administration, including Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, and user account management
  • Understanding of security best practices, including patching, access reviews, and basic threat response is an asset
  • Basic understanding of logs, alerts, and monitoring tools
  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and knowledge base articles
  • Willingness to support after-hours or on-call requirements if needed
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple requests simultaneously
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently
  • Relevant certifications (preferred but not required): CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft 365 or Azure Fundamentals
