About the role

Every enterprise is overspending on technology. Wrong cloud configurations, idle resources, commitments that were never optimized, and software licenses nobody has looked at in years.

We already do this work in telecom: we find the waste, fix it, and keep it managed. Cloud and SaaS spend is the same discipline applied to a bigger, messier problem, and we're building the practice from the ground up.

You would be the first person in it. Here's what makes the work clean: we don't resell any of it. We have no incentive to keep a client's spend high. That puts us in genuine advisory territory.

This is a founding hire, reporting directly to the CEO. You won't be slotting into someone else's playbook, you'll be writing it: the assessment methodology and the deliverables.

What you'll do Run cloud cost assessments for enterprise clients, quantify the waste, find the levers, and put a real number on what's recoverable Extend the same discipline to SaaS and software spend, license rightsizing (Microsoft 365 and similar), subscription and seat cleanup Translate findings into prioritized, dollar-quantified recommendations and present them credibly to both finance and IT stakeholders Own optimization mandates end to end: rightsizing, commitment strategy (Reserved Instances / Savings Plans), tagging and cost allocation, anomaly detection, license optimization, and governance/showback Design the remediation, hand off executable changes to delivery support, and validate that the savings actually land Build Ultreia's FinOps practice as reusable IP, methodology, deliverable templates, the assessment offer Help us extend the practice from Azure to AWS, with a funded path to get there Keep our advice independent and tool-agnostic: recommend the right platform or license posture for the client, never the one that pays us

What we're looking for 3–5 years in cloud, cloud operations, or cloud engineering with real hands-on cost management exposure. Backgrounds in systems administration or infrastructure transitioning into cloud cost governance are strongly considered. Deep Azure expertise, Azure Cost Management, billing exports, reservations and savings plans, tagging, and governance. This is the floor. Portable cost reasoning, you understand why technology costs what it does and can reason about a problem from first principles, whether it's a cloud bill or a software-license estate Genuinely client-facing, you can run a discovery, build findings, and stand in front of a CIO and a head of engineering and hold the room. Strong analytical skills, comfort with cost data, allocation, and unit economics; familiarity with billing exports and BI/SQL is a real plus. Self-starter mindset, you’ve taught yourself things no one asked you to learn, built things on your own initiative, and you’re energized rather than unnerved by a blank page. This is fully remote and the practice doesn’t exist yet; both of those raise the bar on self-direction Azure certification (Administrator, Solutions Architect, or equivalent experience)

Nice to have AWS exposure and appetite to go deeper, we fund the path FOCP (FinOps Certified Practitioner), if you don't have it, we'll pay for it Experience with FinOps or SaaS-management platforms. Microsoft 365 / Entra license optimization or broader SaaS spend-management experience, the license side of the role is learnable on the job, but a head start helps. Consulting or professional services background French, an asset for working with our Québec-based clients, but not required.

What we offer $120,000 - $140,000 base salary + benefits 100% remote, anywhere in Canada Funded certifications and a deliberate ramp, the first months are about building capability and methodology, not chasing utilization 99% Trust Index on our Great Place to Work certification across our Canadian and Peruvian teams. We built this company around the belief that caring for our people is a competitive advantage, not a cost.
