Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. This role is an in‑office position based at our downtown Toronto location. Our team is highly collaborative, and much of our work benefits from in‑person co‑creation, relationship‑building, and hands‑on partnership with leaders across the organization.
We’re looking for an Asset Management Specialist to join our Engineering & Safety team. The core focus will be identifying, analyzing, and interpreting patterns and trends in complex data sets for asset class discipline functions.

What will I be doing?
- Implement and sustain processes on importing, cleaning, transforming, validating and modelling data across all databases and systems utilized by S&C AM team for monitoring the reliability of Signals infrastructure.
- Obtain, model and analyze asset utilization data from operational logs and similar databases to establish correlation with asset failures.
- Utilize Signals datasets to facilitate FRACAS, Root Cause Analysis (RCAs) and generation of meaningful reports to support evidence-based decision making, consisting of dashboards, charts, graphs and/or tables to assist Signals Maintenance Delivery, Asset Management and Engineering teams with asset performance and failure summaries.
- Support Signals teams in designing and tracking RAMS metrics for Metrolinx signal assets and development of failure reporting strategies, including tracking failure mode trends across all failure categories.
- Manage and maintain existing Signals datasets on asset failures, utilization, operational logs, safety incidents, etc. within the asset management framework.
- Connect and correlate asset performance with data on rail operations for assessing the impact of signal asset reliability on rail service.
- Support the presentation of data in dashboards, charts, graphs and/or tables by building, designing and maintaining tools and applications for data processing and automation.
- Conduct and support exercises on RCAs and deep-dives within the Signals teams on specific failure modes or incidents for identifying corrective actions and tracking their progress and impact on asset reliability improvement.
- Design and maintain online applications, process automations and/or programming scripts to merge/combine and process information from multiple datasets comprising of asset specifications, usage, failure summaries, service delays, etc. for use by management, internal business units and stakeholders, to enable Asset Management Maturity and process improvement.
- Support continuous improvement of reliability and failure analysis by identifying gaps and implementing corrective actions.
- Support the monitoring and improvement of asset data integrity through periodic touchpoints for tracking, identification of issues and corrective actions.
- Liaise with other Metrolinx teams for information sharing and collaboration on joint activities.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
- University degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics, or a related discipline, or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
- Strong background in analytics including data transformation and processing, predictive modelling, statistical analysis, exploratory analysis and explanatory analysis.
- Experience in programming languages such as Python, SQL, etc.
- Experience handling datasets using pandas, numpy, matplotlib and other standard python libraries.
- Experience with building machine learning models (using scikit-learn, scipy and other similar libraries).
- Experience connecting to different data sources using requests library.
- Experience using Power Automate, PowerBI and other associated automation tools in Microsoft environment.
- Experience with different methods of connecting to databases, extracting/loading data and processing it thereafter for meaningful analysis.
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn about signaling assets.
