Time Type: Regular Job Description : Architect, Customer Premise Network Engineering & Operations Overview Our Breezeline and Cogeco networks have millions of CPEs connected on them and a complex architecture that integrates and enables them. As an ISP, we need to ensure that these devices are securely, correctly, and reliably provisioned, configured, and managed at all times. As an architect on our team, you will help support the current system architecture and guide our future technological strategy for delivering our various telecommunications services to our customers. Job Responsibilities: Manage the full RFI/RFP lifecycle for next-generation hardware Deliver detailed feedback on hardware/software alignment Suggest and draft technology solutions to deliver on emerging customer needs Conduct deep-dive model comparisons and engineering validations to guide network evolution roadmap strategy Oversee CPE lab footprints (e.g., Burlington Lab, 2nd Floor CPE Lab), defining upgrade paths, design/BOM specifications, lab budget spending, and complex RF interface configurations. Drive device certification and firmware lifecycle adherence, resolving provisioning discrepancies, security documentation requests, and secure server access architectures (SFTP/TFTP) with TPIA operators Partner closely with technology vendors to manage technical responses, platform onboarding sequences, and ensure ecosystem collaboration. Validating CPE integration with new technologies and services (e.g. vCMTS, Managed Wi-Fi) Participate in Cablelabs working groups related to our technology roadmap Produce architecture and testing reports for leadership review and sign-off Lead A/B testing efforts during RFP Integration testing of new CPE and CPE Firmware that will be used on Cogeco, Breezeline and third-party networks Manage and evolve testing strategies related to HSI, Wi-Fi and CPE testing to ensure quality standards are met Deploy firmware to production and monitor results post roll-out Troubleshoot interoperability, diagnose complex and intermittent issues that arise between interaction with different CMTS platforms and other network or customer premise devices Foster a culture of collaboration in an environment where calculated risks need to be taken Encourage and demonstrate a lean approach, continuous improvement, and constant learning Required to work during overnight outage windows to deploy firmware Perform other assigned tasks Employees must take all necessary measures to ensure their own health and safety, as well as that of their colleagues and the public. They must use available personal protective equipment at all times and comply with all health and safety instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures issued by the company. To support Cogeco's ultimate goal of providing excellent service to current and future customers, the incumbent must remain consistently attentive and responsive to the needs of both external and internal clients, helping to resolve any issues or concerns in a timely and professional manner, while ensuring the solution meets the client's needs. Essential Qualifications Academic Background Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or related discipline is an asset College diploma in Computer Science or related discipline Work Experience 10+ years of experience in a telecommunications environment Specific Skills DOCSIS and Cable Modem knowledge Knowledge of ONU & PON Proficiency in Linux Experience with Wi-Fi and mesh hardware, networks and tools Familiarity with SCTE and their standards Experience with Firmware Management Systems Experience with JIRA, AIO (or similar test cycle management), and Confluence Proficiency with Google Office Suite Ability to work in agile environments A positive attitude with a strong interest in continuously learning, experimenting, and improving Excellent written and verbal communication skills Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and resolve issues independently Occasional travel may be required (5%) You’ll benefit from: Flexibility: Yes, we think that what you do matters.
